Well, I just had my iPhone replaced due to a faulty black piece. My new iPhone has a grid of tiny white dots all over the screen (mostly visible in low light/black background). From what I understand many people have had this issue and it seems to be limited to the 7-series lcd screen. So my question is this...Will Apple replace my iPhone?? And if they do, will they merely send me another phone which could also have a defective screen, or will they make sure they send me a 5-series, or at least a 7-series with a flawless lcd?? Thank you for your help!

there is no way to check until you open the box and dial that number. I would just take it in and have the apple store people replace it again.

It is all 7-series, my first phone had a 71.... series screen and got it replaced due to dust under the glass, the second phone had the flawed screen so AppleCare had me sent it to them, we will see what I get next.

My screen has the dots when I'm viewing something black (or at least far enough away from pure white) and the brightness is above 1/2 or so... Apple's really going to replace the iPhone for that?

Is it worth the turnaround time for them to just send it back and tell me they're not going to fix it?

Can someone verify that they actually replace/repair these iPhones?

What if your state is inexplicably lacking an Apple Store?

If the dots are visible in everyday use settings I don't think there would be any problem getting a replacement.

Now if you have to manipulate the phone (turn brightness 100%, pure black screen, flip the screen 45 degress, stand on your head, etc, etc,) to get them to show up I think it will be a 50/50 chance.

Yes they will replace it, like you I am far from an Apple store so I called Apple Care he had me do a few things to verify it was the LCD (reboot the phone and when the silver apple appeared asked if the dots appeared in the black and they didn't) so they sent me a return box and I sent it in Tuesday and am recieving a new one today. So yes they replace it and turn around looks to be 3 days, but I am only without an iPhone for about 48 hours, you can have them send a loaner if you wish with the return box.

When I reboot mine, for the very first 1-3 seconds or so, it's fine. But then the dots appear even from straight-on and far from 100% brightness.

I noticed them before reading about them, but assumed all iPhones had the white dots.

Interestingly, they do not seem to be spaced perfectly evenly over the entire display. Has anyone else noticed this? I assumed that it was some artifact of the touch-screen, but maybe not.

I called the Apple Store in KoP, PA and they said I had to make an appointment with a Mac Genius and it will get taken care of through the warranty process.
