Ummmm.. what if I bought a iPhone 4 at launch. Recently broke it... and now want the white one?

Your out of luck. Under no circumstances will Apple EVER replace a product with another one that is not exactly the same! Period!

What i'm wondering about is when we will get an announcement about it.
If the launch is Wednesday they are leaving it incredibly late!

What are we supposed to do. Base it all on rumor and show up outside stores on Wednesday if we want one? Give me a break!

I know this makes the world less interesting...

Some people will want to wait for the 5. Some, need a phone now, and happen to like the white. Some people will like the white so much that they will pay extra for it. You get to make your own decisions regarding the matter - including the right to not buy a smartphone at all. Why all the hatin'? :)

EXACTLY! All this hush hush in the telecom business is ridiculous. I imagine Apple is waiting on all the retail stores to confirm delivery from weekend shipments and a safe bet would be a Wednesday announcement and you can buy Thursday at retail stores, select Best Buys, and possibly ATT/VZW.

I wonder if there is a surprise up Apples sleeve, like a 64GB white model available as kinda like a "sorry" for the delay...???

Just been to Vodafone UK store in Paddington. They had two white iPhones ready to be sold on PAYM contracts, boxes on display. Looks like launch day is today!

The thing I find funny is that about 90% of the people who were anxiously waiting for or desire the white iPhone are just going to stick it in a case anyway.

Beheld the Grail last night

Sadly, like Dr. Jones, I can offer no proof of it until tomorrow (when it won't matter ;) ).

My Verizon contact showed me his production white CDMA IP4 last night and indicated they would in fact go on sale in the US on 4/27.

He went on to confirm rumors I've read here and elsewhere that the paint issue was a red herring. The proximity sensor was the problem all along and is a complete redesign on the white phone.

While I agree that under those circumstances Apple is unlikely to make the swap I have to disprove your claim. My mom's 14 inch iBook's screen broke when our dog pulled the cord it was plugged into and knocked it to the floor (pre-magsafe days). She sent it into Apple where they so sweetly said they would repair it free of charge even though they didn't have to. It ended up taking a few weeks when they said they would have a new one for her in a couple of days. After a few times calling in to check on the status that never seemed to change, Apple sent her a brand new updated 12 inch powerbook! Another time a friend of mine spilled wine on the keyboard of his 2009 15 inch top of the line Macbook Pro. It worked for a few more months until it finally kaput. He took it into Apple just to see what they would do, not too optimistic. The Genius was awesome and gave him a brand new 2011 top of the line 15 incher!

The damned White iPhone 4 is actually same as China Clone conversion kit.. damn
