Are we sure the date is July 30th? The screenshots for the white iPhone that I see don't have a date. July 30th is when iPhones will be available in the 17 additional countries.

Haha, thanks Brien!

Anyway, I guess there's nothing left for us but to keep monitoring the Apple site for the pre-orders.

Yeah, thanks. When I posted this the Ars liveblog put the July 30th date on the white iPhone news, so I figured that was from Steve's mouth. But end of July can really only mean the 30th or the 31st, and one day isn't that different.

If that's the case, we're all ****ed. Limited supply, in Apple's history, has usually meant a handful per store. If they only send 100 or so to each store, no way I'll be able to get one. :(

That'd be ********. I live three & a half hours away from the closest Apple Store.

I'm super excited for it, though.

End of July is the 31st, but they since they said End of July, it could also mean the last week of July...

I hate how they don't give the exact date, but they give the exact date when they are shipping to more countries. 2nd Half of July was a lie, hope this one doesn't turn to something like 1st half of August. Also, Apple said they love to make their customers happy, so why not ship earlier? Who cares anyway, We're gonna get our white iPhones soon :) lol

Wish the frakkin' reporters at the Q/A would ask about pre-orders...

Thank you! I thought the same exact thing. Although if one were to assume, you would think Apple would begin accepting pre-order's sometime next week.

So.... are they ramping up production on all models yet?

Otherwise, I can see a "White iPhone Priority List" thread soon.

If they want to sell more phones, they'd better.

They sold 1.7 million on launch, but only 3 million total to date. That means that in 3 weeks, they only sold 1.3 million phones. I think that would qualify as a shortage.

but according to most people here, there will not be a pre-order for a phone that has already been "released", instead it will just become available at the store on a certain day.

Yeah, I hope they'll have enough for people on launch.

It's already a bitch trying to find a black 16gb.

That makes sense. Although I would think having pre-orders would constitute at least some sort of order when the white is released.

Also, wasn't the iPad released on a Saturday? I wouldn't rule out a July 31st release date for the white iPhone.

Has anyone else tried calling their local Apple store for tips on a priority list, etc.? If you do, please report back here. Sometimes it's a crapshoot and you catch that one employee/manager who has heard something the others haven't.

Good point. Most of the time, they don't know anything we don't, but it's better than standing around speculating I suppose...

Called Knoxville, TN Apple Store to see if they had a waiting list or anything... Guy didn't have a clue what I was talking about, didn't even know about the press conference. He checked their store website and said there wasn't an option to reserve one or anything... Anyone hear different from an Apple Store?

The Knoxville store is full of retards anyways.... call again, ask for the manager, then ask about the white iPhone. I'm about to go there anyways, and get my bumper refunded. I'll ask when I go.

Just called one of my local stores. They don't know much more than the general public, but the rep told me that they thought they'd have a priority list for white, once it becomes available for order on the site (since it's shipping at the end of the month, logically, it has to be available on the site before the end of the month).

That's about all I've got.
