Since you don't seem to be able to do much with the device anyway, try using this version of redsn0w and point to an iOS 4 ipsw.

I have a feeling the software on it is something interesting. All the logos are that it will show are pixelated....

Tweet Dev Team/someone in the jailbreak community, they'll almost certainly be able extract the software for you.
