Just noticed, a brand new white 4S, the phone has a small black chip on one of the surrounding edges. Anyone with the same issue? Any bumper or case can cover it up though.

It's a little chip but it's there.

Anything is possible. Apple does seem to be eager to promote cases.

You can switch them out at apple stores. They have brand new ones in black boxes. I had to switch mine this weekend.

I updated the thread with the picture. And from the looks of it, that other guy in that other thread might have the same issue as me.

Oh no. There is a speck of dust on my new phone.

Anyways I think my 4 came with a speck like that. It rubbed off.

Me too. But the one they swapped out was broken - the earpiece didn't work!

Most definitely take it back. I was buying my 4S at the AT&T store when I saw some sort of dirt or something stuck between the antenna and the body. I tried to get it out with my finger but couldn't. I immediately told the AT&T guy, and he of course exchanged it for a new one out of the box. His response: "You're paying $400 for a phone... might as well make sure it's perfect when you get it." Makes sense.

That's the same reason I switched mine out too. I could only use speakerphone to call people.
