I have the same thing, but different area. Noticed it yesterday.
Going to take it to Apple Store this week, and see what they say.

I had something similar on my iPhone 4S in White on the back! I tried wiping it off, and it wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I ever tried scratching at it with my nail and nada so it drove me CRAZY. But I thought to myself, that it looked like it was BETWEEN the glass and the plastic, so what I did was, I got a sheet of paper, and I managed to slide that little piece of dirt out and voila! it was gone!

Try that out guys, and lemme know if that fixes your issue :) Those pictures look EXACTLY like what I had going on.

That's not what I'm asking though ;)

Once you see it you will always see it since it's black on white and is on the front @ at the top...

If its under the glass its a defect and they'll replace it. I had a tiny spec under the front screen and got it replaced with no questions asked. Under the glass is not the cause of anything you did, so replace away.

Looking at the photo, it looks like the same thing is going on at the bottom left part of the phone in that picture..

SOLVED: It's some type of black factory particulate! Got it removed using female nails in the border area!!!

Thanks Stephen1108!
