Did anyone think whats the reasoning behind just the plain ol' white box for the iPhone? Think about it, how much ink is required to print those iPhone images. The cost savings is in the millions....Tim Cook is a genius.

It's because of the whole "flat" design language that apple is putting into everything they are making...except for their iPhones with curved screens and curved edges.

I said the same thing a few days ago (jokingly) but it might be true...

As another poster said in another thread, "It's to appear timeless. So as not to have an outdated model on the front in future iterations."

Here it is. Unapologetically minimalistic. :apple:

They should just leave the phone off the box altogether. Just have it say iPhone. Then they should simply drop the model number from them in the future, just call every year's model 'iPhone'

Really. For instance you don't hear Ford calling this years model F-150 35 or whatever. We know it's a new model, they come out with one every year. :D

I agree with this. Make it follow their MacBooks and what not. "the 2016 iPhone" haha. I'm sure it's easier to market when it has a specific moniker, though.

Probably an attempt to help with the "secrecy" Tim Cook was referring to.
Its probably a lot easier to smuggle out a box than an actual device or device parts during manufacturing.

Maybe this will be the box for every successive iPhone too - doesn't date, and just says 'iPhone' on the side.

Tim must've got a good deal and decided to order tens of millions :D

Hey folks, long time lurker but finally registered today! :)

I thought my box had been mis-printed until I googled it and saw they were all like that, strange ghostly iPhone on the front!

I'm a fan of minimalistic design and minimalistic packaging. When I picked up my bros 6+ last night and held the box in my hand, took a look at it in person, and I feel the design is too minimalistic this time, almost generic. Needs a little color ya know. Sent from my iPad.
