I bought a black one but if I could go back again I'd buy the white one. It looks so much cooler and doesn't show fingerprints or scratches as much. Plus there aren't that many white phones out there.

If you're worried about your iPhone color determining your sexual orientation you should go see a therapist right now. :D

Black or White...

I originally bought the white one thinking it was pretty. Then I got home and realized that, like all white things, it is going to get dirty faster/easier. So, I went back today and traded it in for the black one.

Even owners who bought the white one and put an invisible shield on it are having problems. Other fabrics are staining the invisible shield which, of course, you wouldn't be able to see if you had the black one.

I don't think either one is more feminine, it is just whether you think you are going to be able to keep it clean.

the white iphone is for girls. the black iphone is for boys.

just like low-top converses are for girls, and high-top converses are for boys.

i'm surprised everybody doesn't already know this.

Yeah, the invisible shield is getting dirty. The white iPhone does not get dirty. Somehow, the varnish or whatever they put on it, keeps the dirt off pretty well. Mine hasn't stained or discolored at all and I'm sure other white owners say the same thing.

The only colours considered 'girly' are pink, but the iPhone only comes in black and white. Don't get the black if you prefer the white, there's no difference. It's just a colour. No one's going to think you're a girl for having something white. I bet quite a lot of your clothes are white, does that mean that they are girly?

Personally, I prefer black. I think the white looks a little strange compared with the front of the phone, and dirt shows up a lot on the white. Or it could be that I just generally prefer my gadgets black :p

Bottom line is, if you want the white version just get it!

Thanks for settling this once and for all. I'm glad we got it right.

Another reason to get one color or the other would be if you carry other electronics that are black or white (pager, PDA, car remote, taser, or whatever other stuff you have in your Batman Utility Belt). If you want your iPhone to match, get the same color. If you'd rather have the iPhone stand out, get the other color.

I wear a pink shirt sometimes, and I could care less if people think I look feminine.

I actually think that the white iPhone is cooler looking than the black iPhone.

If you don't have confidence about yourself and you care too much about what people think of you, then don't get it.

Michael Westen uses a white iPhone, and he used to be a spy.

Can't get any more manly than that. :D

(Then again, he keeps his white iPhone in a black case. Hmmm...)

I purchased the black 8GB the week after launch and I returned it for the white one a week later. It's always been naked and never did it get "dirty." It's had fingerprints but it does not get dirty or stained. You prematurely returned it without trying it out first.

How many threads and how many times are we going to discuss this?
Fine, black is for boys and white is for girls. If you're a guy with a white one or a girl with a black one them you're clearly gender confused.

just like low-top converses are for girls, and high-top converses are for boys.

Now I'm totally confused. I'm a gay man and I have a black 16GB iPhone and I wear low-top converse everyday. Did I just disprove or prove your point?

To the original poster:
Since I'm gay and I have a black phone, I would strongly suggest staying away from anything black because people might think you're gay. But then again I saw a girl with a white phone once, so if you get a white phone they might think you're a girl. Seems like no matter what you do, someone's going to have an opinion.

The best option seems to be to go live in a cave.

If that doesn't work, get over it and buy whichever one you like. If you're worried about what "it says about you" you might have another problem.
:)

I'm a straight male with a 16GB White iPhone... I like them more than the black... Plus the white ones were like 2 weeks quicker to get when all the phones where back ordered through AT&T...

Black definitely looks better in real life imo. And I don't know how people are complaining about fingerprints? Wipe it on your shirt/jeans! If that doesn't work, the micro fiber cloth that came with mine gets it 100% clean EVERY time.

I own a black 16GB with no protective covers and carry it in my pocket (50% jeans 50% dress slacks)

This is one altogether silly thread.

But its fun!

I have a white one from day one, it hasn't got dirty and I never use cases or protectors for anything and I usually keep it in my (messy) jeans pocket and use my flour-covered hands with it (I own an italian restaurant.)
I didn't pick the white one to show I am gay (though I am) but because the black one was boring.
