So Apple is most likely using their new painting technique to paint the iPad 2's (unless they for some reason kept their contract with the previous provider, which seems less likely). There are rumors building about it coming back out that have accumulated over the past 3 months.

Now, Apple just announced their iPad 2, but will probably have another (smaller) keynote within the next 30 days to preview iOS-5. My theory is they will announce that they will start shipping the white iPhones as a little "one more thing" at the end. Perfect place to announce a (semi-embarrassing although welcome) surprise.

They will then continue to use the new paint and manufacturer and transition easily with just new parts for the iPhone 5.

Anyways, just a theory....

Sorry OP, but there is no way your theory is going to come true. You won't see a white iPhone until the next one is introduced in the summer. It makes no sense for Apple to do it now.

The front is definitely made of glass. And that's getting painted...

but the rumored issue was the White Glass backplate and Flash photos, the iPad has neither a glass backplate or flash, so it wouldn't suffer from the same issues, and the front of the iPad doesn't have a Proximity sensor like the iPhone 4 (that was also a rumored reason).

The main problem with the white iPhone is the proximity sensor and camera flash ... none which is on the iPad.

I don't see the point of releasing it now. That's just silly.
Just hold it off Apple.

I wouldn't completely rule out a white iPhone this late in the iPhone 4's sale cycle. As some of you may or may not remember, during the OG iPhone's cycle, a 16GB model was released in February of 2008. So not too much earlier in the year. I think the OP could be on to something with his theory, even though it wouldn't make much sense, as the 16GB iPhone didn't either.

I can't see a white iPhone until the new model comes out in June. What would be the point releasing it now and having to revamp it completely in just a few months?
