Hey guys, how do you think the white iphone will look over time compared to the black - will it start to yellow/go brown? I have a feeling the glossy plastic will hold up and not absorb dirt, not sure how it compares to the black with scratches. I'll probably go without a case or a skin on either colour iPhone.

I doubt it will go yellow like the macbooks did. Hopefully Apple has resolved that issue. If not, I will be yelling at lots of incompetent people if they don't replace my model.

I'v never heard of MB going yellow.

The White iPhone's outer casing is the same material as the mighty mouse and my mighty mouse is pristine after all the use.

I wouldnt worry about it.

How can they resolve that issue? The plastic is no doubt going to age overtime.

See, i like the white iPhone. I have a white and black to compare it. But it a few months, that black is going to stay black, with of course probably a few minor scuffs from use. But the white iPhone will have those scuffs, as well as dirty look from use if its not in a case constantly, and the little scuffs can collect dirt and get ugly overtime..

And Laurene Powell his wife said unto him, "use a case and be merry".

At least it will match your...

There is a plus to the possibility of the white iPhone's turning yellow, at least then it will match the yellow screen! :D

Oh wait, I don't have a white iPhone (got a black) nor do I have a yellow screen.

It will EVENTUALLY go yellow.

White is cute and all but Its going to show every piece of dirt and every scratch. Yeh u can get a cover, but then whats the purpose of gettin white? All those clear plastic cases are hidious and will scratch your phone anyways. My friend has the white one with a IS skin and after a week, u can see dirt all in the cracks and it looks gross. Black is where its at.

Once you go black you never go back...heck my car is black, my PS3 is black, my PSP is black, my computer is black, and my Iphone 3G when I even get one will be black 16Gb.....

i doubt that the phone will last long enough to turn yellow ...
either it will break or traded in for iphone 4g in a year or two :)

my ipod 3. generation doesn´t work anymore but it´s still white

the yellowish color on the macbook was on the palm rests not the top case right? in that case i don't see how the iPhone will turn yellow at all..

My Mighty Mouse turned green........ I was wearing a sweatshirt that I hadn't washed yet, full of green dye and washed my hands before using the mouse. That = green mouse.

Amen.

Black 160GB iPod classic, black iPod nano, black & aluminum iMac, black Toyota Yaris, black clothes (all of them), and soon to be a black iPhone 3G.

God, I love this company.

i dont think it will turn yellow.. the material of my MB's palm rests havent turned yellow.. its a different material and i have an invisible shield on mine and plus a case if i want extra protection

but i love the white and dont think it will discolor

Eh, you can't compare a iPod to this case, or a macbook (only the palmrests maybe)

You are constantly holding the phone. You are constantly putting the phone next to your head, which sometimes if it's hot out sweat can get on your screen and your hands get wet.

I guess, take a look at your mighty mouse. or any other white plastic mouse recently made by apple.

You handle it daily...

Mine seems fine, and I'm sure the plastic compound would be similar to the back casing on the iphone.

I feel pretty confident that I will have a new one before there are any problems with the color of the outside. My BB8310 and it was only 10 months old when it met the end of the road for me..... Hardly long enough to cause alot of issues.. BTW the IS that I have looks great after 9 days, not sure what all the "dirt" in the "cracks" means..:D

well my old ibook did. Considering you'll be handling your phone more than your computer, I says its quite possible...

but who cares, I has a black one...:p

Yep - the white feels and looks almost identical to the top of my mighty mouse.

My mighty mouse is as white as it has ever been, and it gets daily usage - and its about a year and a half old.

I hear some clicking on the mouse off my rings and so forth now and again - and can see absolutely no scratches. If the iPhone holds up as well as this I will be very happy.

Have handled a black iPhone 3G as well as my white one - and I reckon the white is less prone the scratches showing, and definitiely less prone to smudges and fingerprints showing!

Funny statement "my macbook only turned yellow where my palms rest, not on the top cover". Hmmm, I wonder where the back of the iPhone normally rests when it's in use? Black all the way for me!

I have a white iPhone and I have a crystal clear screen :p

I'm not sure the screen issues were just isolated to a certain color of the iphone...from what I saw it was spread through out all the size and color options and was the luck of the draw.

...and wasn't that fixable?...I haven't heard many complaints recently.
