Don't forget to leave the Macbook turned on and pour the bleach all over it. A little just won't get it clean and if it is not turned on you will not be able to see how white it is when it is running.

Because we know your hands are always spotless.

What a useless comment.
lol, I use mine in the garage when i am working on my car (have the service manual, bentley manual, and various DIY procedures totaling about 1 Gb on it). After all it is just a tool (though one of the best ones). You can always clean it with mr magic and a little alcohol, eagle one 20/20 etc. afterwards.

Toothpaste is slightly abrasive, so the tiny particles in it that polish your teeth to gleaming whiteness also do the same to your Mac (or so I've heard).

I wonder if the Crest WhiteStrips will work? :D It's a rhetorical question.

well.. i tried it on my macbook - and a strage thing happened... IT WORKED !!!

i didnt expect it to... but it worked perfectly :D

Now... i got curious... and i also found out that it will take the tarnish off silver!!!

isnt that neat??

Black one gets oily fingerprints, which in some opinions, are harder to remove. Both have their downsides regardless.

At least with white it gradually starts looking dirty, but with black as soon as you touch it again it has oily fingerprints on it.

Total myth! Folks, stop it with the exaggeration. The black is very easy to keep clean with Mr Clean Magic Eraser. So good, that I used it once and haven't used it again for the last three weeks. It makes the BlackBook look like it just came out of the box.

yea the black one i find is easier to clean then the white top.

I am going to try the Mr clean eraser, thank you...
however...its nice to know other things that I could give a try :)

Being from Europe I have no idea what Magic Clean Eraser is ..plus I'm in China now and I seriously NEED to clean my macbook (it's so dirty here..) any other options? .. Also how does one say Magic clean eraser in Chinese hehe?

Here in Thailand they're called "3M Magic Sponge". I get 'em at a stationery/art supply shop.

Does the toothpaste work on the shiny part of the lid? I would try it, but I don't want to mess it up.

don't use magic erasers or toothpaste on the shiny parts of the white casing. anything abrasive will scratch it up - actually just looking at the shiny areas seems to scratch it.

I have a black one and the fingerprints are barely noticeable, at all.

Though, I keep my fingers fairly clean and others might so that might be the difference.

im not sure if this would work. but you could dilute 1tsp of bleach to 1 gallon of water i think thats the right mixture.

but thats if you really wanted to use bleach.
i dont know how the magic eraser works.

i say use a slightly, barely damp microfiber cloth.

I spray a little Clorox "Clean-Up Cleaner with Bleach" on a paper towel and rub down the keys and palm rests when they get yellowed. Actually, the palm rests get kind of gray, and the keys get a little yellow. It comes in a 1 quart spray bottle. It's 1.8% bleach, the rest water basically. I've had zero problems with it, but I'm very careful not to get any of that solution on the screen.

My machine is one of those 2GHz white macbooks. The staedtler plastic eraser does remove dirt, grime, etc from the palm rests but it's a bad idea because of all the crap it sheds all over the place. I can't imagine trying to clean the keyboard with that. You'd probably rip off a key or two and fill the crevices with eraser junk.

and once you get it clean try and find clear tape type stuff, like i got this clear contact paper and put it on the palm rest and some on the keys that way when you look at it the keys or the palm rest wont have that worn look, not like you can really tell since its white, but if you were a blackbook owner ur keys and palm rest would be all glossy from wear.
