My old 3G does not boot up with an apple or anything, just a white screen. I get either an error 23 or 1600. I've tried using iReb, but it doesn't turn my screen white, so it doesn't seem to work. I was on a custom 3.1.2 .ipsw.

I think error 23 is a hardware error.

    I think it's a hardware failure also.

I had a 3GS when they first came out and had this problem. I had just restored the phone using a backup that was jailbroken. I woke up a few hours later with a warning on the screen saying that iPhone could not take or make calls and that a restore was needed. IMEI and the ICCID #s were listed as unknown.

When I restored, it failed with an error 23 and told me that if the sim was locked with a sim pin to unlock it. There never was a sim pin on the sim.

Apple replaced my phone back then because it was barely two months old.

Yes, I realize that in some cases this is a hardware failure, but I also get the 1600 error and I've read about people getting past this error. I just can't seem to get it to work.

Yeah, my 3GS got error 23 when the radio in the phone went bad, I actually got a pop up saying please take you iPhone into a Apple store....

I would think since your getting both it may be a hardware softwear combo error perhaps?

I only get 23 in recovery mode. I get 1600 in DFU mode.

I'm glad the 4 seems to be a much better product than the the 3G.

I'll try it, but he was at least getting the Apple logo before the white screen. This is what I get for trying to fix wifi on it, but otherwise it was pretty useless without it.

But you had the Apple logo come up before the white screen, right?

No, basicly i picked up my phone and turned it on, only fir the white screen to appear, I've had it happen to all my phones at some point in time. As a matter of fact my iphone 4 did it yesterday, a hard reset got it back to normal. Ive had times where I had to try a couple of times for the hard reset to work. I read on here recently that it's a software issue, that's what apple told the person.
