Hey, hope someone can help.

My macbook took a fall the other day and I got the White screen of death, I plugged it into my external monitor and it worked fine. Tried resetting the PRAM and now the external monitor won't pick it up.

Took it to a mac store and they quoted me the price of a new macbook (mines 4 years old) to fix it, saying the hard drive and screen need replacing.

Is there anyway I can test this? or at least try and get the external monitor working again? Can't afford the repairs or a new macbook :(

Thanks

You can test the hard drive by removing it and placing it into an external enclosure. Or do you have a access to another MacBook to put the hard drive in?

Thanks for the prompt response! will give it a go, unfortunately don't have access to another mac, think the screen settings may have been adjusted with the PRAM reset, but could also be that the PRAM triggered the Hard Drive failure?
