People keep saying it looks cleaner, but over time, won't it fade and look yellow/brown?

the color is under the glass, the color will not fade or yellow.
i own a white ipad 2, i owned an original ipad as well. I am really liking my white ipad, it hides the finger prints that i used to see all over the bezel.

IMO:

Black:

Pros: looks sleeker, more professional, and high tech

Cons: the bezel reflects a lot (you may get distracted), you can see many more fingerprints and dust particles on the device

White:

Pros: the bezel doesn't reflect half as much as the black ipad, you won't notice the fingerprints on the bezel, looks distinctive, stands out

Cons: May look cheap for some, and some consider it feminine

I bought the black one, but I would not mind having the white one at all.

You're picking a color. It's not an important decision. Pick one and pay for it. Done.

Yeah, let's spend our hard earned cash on a device that we are not satisfied with the colour once we choose one. To most people, I think it is an important decision because at the end of the day, you're paying £400 and you would want the ipad to be nice, aesthetically of course.

Not understanding how white is feminine. I see many guys driving white cars and girls driving black cars. I have a white pair of tennis shoes and have some white shirts. White and black are opposite but neither are feminine nor masculine. Black absorbs all light and white reflects all light.

Once we get into the pinks, light greens, baby blues etc then things may change a bit but even then it’s still a matter of opinion. Get the color iPad that makes you happy.

Weren't people saying the two reasons for the white iPhone delay were because of camera flash problems and color fade?

No, Apple's been making white gear since 99 or so; they know how to stop it from fading or discoloring. The reason was that Apple couldn't consistently get the white to adhere to the glass on the iPhone, something which isn't an issue on the iPad. There were cases of the 3G/3GS back discoloring, but that's white plastic and its a different production process from the glass iPhone/iPad.

It's just personal preference. No real advantage one way or the other.

I prefer black and would be unlikely to buy any tablet, tv, monitor etc. with anything other than a black or dark gray bezel as I just don't like the look of them and find they stand out more to me when watching letter boxed movies etc. from experience watching things on them at other people's houses etc.

Others love white and other colors and don't find it distracting at all. Just a total personal preference thing. So just check them out and buy whichever you like better.

When the iPad 2 was first announced, I was convinced I wanted a white one. It reminded me of the old white iPods.

After the retail stores received demo models, I went in to check them out and was playing around on a white model and noticed something felt a little "off" about it.

I put it down and picked up one of the black models and realized I didn't like the white after all. The bezel was too distracting for my taste. Since this will be my first iPad, I'm glad I didn't just blindly order without any hands-on time. Now I'm just stuck in the hell of waiting for my black model to ship.

No big deal. White looks fine. I prefer my new white iPad to my black 1st gen one. You get used to it very quickly and it looks superb.

Although that user posted white bezel televisions, you should note how the television market (by market I mean local best buy/TV stores) has, roughly estimating, 90+% black bezel TVs. Why is this...?

Same as a few years ago there were 90% silver bezel TV's I know alot of TV forum users who actualy HATE piano black tvs as the reflective bezel is distracting and hard to keep clean!

White tvs are usualy used in ultra moden minimal settings for that not lived in look.

While black is everymans blend in colour, its all about the easy sale black does not mean classy its deemed the norm!!

If you look at high spec tv's like the:
philips 9705 & the upcomming 9706
Samsung C9000 & D9000

They have silver aluminum frames and come out at £4000 a set!

Even philips have white and silver eco TV

So to say whites old hat its not it will be always be classed as ultra moden clean living, like them people who have white furniture and white walls and have the odd coloured vase about :)

So go with what one you like......
