G5 just two days before the upgrade. I really like my computer, but the fact that I bought it from a reseller for 2100 Canadian dollars, and then walked into the same reseller 2 days later and saw it going for 1300 really pisses me off. Unfortunately because I bought it from a reseller, there's no recourse to the Mac "price protection". Lesson - never buy from a reseller - what's the point?
I called the reseller, and they're in the same boat as the end users, so I called Mac, but they wouldn't do anything - just gave me a long speel about the way the tech industry works. I know that, and told them as much before they gave me the speel. I just wanted something to mitigate the fact that I feel like I've been screwed out of almost 1000 bucks. I got some coupons. Now I feel that much better. Arseholes!
I still like my Mac, but my wallets hurting, as well as my pride.
Hey it happens. Still a bummer though. You have to understand that when Apple price protects a dealer, they have to report the inventory on hand at the time of price protection. So your unit was not in their inventory.
Kind of surprised that the reseller has no return policy. Is that a Canadian thing? Even a 15% restock fee would have saved you about $700.
