That cost him exactly 27, 133.85 $

So u tell me if u had 30k $ and 2 choices of either a new car or that Mac pro with 12 cores 32GB RAM 4 512 GB solid state hard drives etc etc.... what would u choose?

He definitely overpaid one quite a few things:

  1. Should have bought RAM from 3rd party vendor for WAY cheaper (plus he could have gotten 64GB for that price instead of 32GB)
  2. Should have bought SSD drives from 3rd party vendor for WAY cheaper
  3. Should have got a 3rd party Blu-ray burner instead of the 2nd Superdrive
  4. What is the point of the Fibre Channel card? Does he have a SAN to connect to it?
  5. Why did he buy Final Cut Express instead of Studio?
  6. MAC OS X Server? I guess if he does have a SAN to connect to the Fibre Channel card, then he must have other Macs and stuff.
  7. Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter? Okay this has to be a joke.
  8. Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter? Again, if he has 30 inch ACDs, this has to be a joke.
  9. XSAN (okay that fits if he has a SAN to connect with Fibre Channel)

Okay.. based on all of this, I am going to have to say you are full of it. When people win the lottery they don't get all their winnings all at once, they are paid it over time. Plus the taxes mean you don't get the full amount anyway.

So yeah, you are just trolling. You went on Apple's site and configured out the most expensive one you possibly could just so you could post about how expensive it is. That is pretty obvious from the fact that you added pointless MDP adapters and Server + SAN crap that only someone building a high end Mac Server for work would need, and this kind of price would not even scratch the surface of the amount spent on servers if that was the case.

Move along.

But, but, but the OP registered today and this is the OP's only thread and post. Surely that counts for some veracity of the OP's tale?
If experience has taught us anything, than always to trust newcomers and their stories.

In the end, it's the loveliness that OP has told its story with and one can see, that s/he likes folklore.

Anyway, I bite and tell you I know many people in the business who bought Mac Pros or Power Macs and made more money working with them than they initially cost. Right now our company has rented a Mac Pro that brings the company we rent it from more money than a car costs per month.

I would have just spent a max of $6000 for the Mac Pro (highest end) and buy 3rd Party RAM and pocketed the left over and put it into the bank.

As in your case, I would have also spent $6000 on a Mac Pro (highest end model) and buy 3rd party RAM and spend $12000 on a civic and put the rest of the money in the bank.

One year one to one membership? So your friend doesn't know how to use iPhoto or iDVD?

This is obviously fake.

"A Mac Pro from apple.ca with "

We don't pay taxes on winnings in Canada like they do in the States. I agree that it's a fabricated story, probably by a 14 year old

LOLOL @ quad port FCP HBA

start buying more lottery tickets if you plan on using that card for anything.

I'm sorry to say this purchase was poorly made.

This is why most lottery winners (I'm talking the ones that wins 6-8 figures) have no money left after only a few years.

Your friend choose better. He has a computer, and enough left over for bus and taxi, and even an occasional plane. You've got a car - by the time you pay for maintenance, insurance, gas, and what not, you'll be in debt.

Granted your hypothetical friend did not make the best buying decisions. But that is OK since likely this a made up story.

since you are 12 years old and live in a small room in your parents house :) why did you buy a car ? what a waste at least your little buddy has bragging rights that he has the most killer computer which he will play on using some video and discover he loves it and then become the next greatest producer in a short time and become insanely wealthy ! and think man my idiot friend bought a car and he does not even have a lic !!!
not going to help him out with anything shows he will just blow it !

10 years later you will still be cursing your friend out but he wont care the nice thing is when you are delivering pizza to him he will tip you well !
and dont spit on it he takes one slice out sends to the lab! and if he catches that he will sue pizza hut and become more wealthy pissing you off even more and of course you loose the only job you have ever had since you were 16
but hey at least you got to drive your 4 year old car a few days until you crashed it :) and yeah you did not have enough left over for insurance so you lost everything :)

now of course I know you are not 12 you are actually 27 old enough to buy the ticket and living in parents basement !
and at least this is your fantasy rather than porn ? so thats good thing
to bad the lottery ticket is not :)

either way destiny is hosed for you :) sad sad sad

So u tell me if u had 30k $ and 2 choices of either a new car or that Mac pro with 12 cores 32GB RAM 4 512 GB solid state hard drives etc etc.... what would u choose?

blow %10 on something fun that $3000 could buy me a fun nice mac 4,1 ? put the other %30 in college kids fun the other %30 in something semi aggressive growth the other %30 in something more tangible and not related like gold ?

Yeah just someone putting a story on why anyone would buy the upgraded to the max (by apple) mac pro

First of all since it was ONLY 60000 dollars we were paid it in 3 days into both our banking accounts. Second why would i lie? And i am NOT a 12/14 year old living in a small room...cough cough....I got a new 2010 Toyota Corolla.

ovrlrd
1. IDK why he did it.probably just got it from apple idk why? 32gb is ENOUGH ram
2. Same as above it doesnt matter if he bought from apple or somewehere else its his choice....For example...an old ipod touch 8GB cost 220$ from apple store...and it cost 198$ from future shop....so yeah
3. Its his choice rite? not any one of ours.
4. yes -.-
5. IDK WHY...he wanted for macbook i guess?

OK he got onetoone mebership to help with final cut express as he told me.

ChuckBlack i do live in canada....vancouver that is,,,,we got 60k after taxes DUH! lol...

Hanumaui....nice little idiotic fantasy u got there....u could be a author someday....then get fired the next second after someone reads the first page of ur book.... tch tch tch

Any unawnsered questions?

Yeah, why did he buy a fibre channel card and SAN/Server software? All of that is useless without an enterprise class server to connect to. And if your friend actually had that, he'd have enough computer savvy to know that buying all of those addon's (like RAM) straight from Apple was stupid. Not to mention he'd have the sysadmin knowledge to install it all himself.

Still don't believe your story.
