I have a 2.2 Blackbook purchased in late November. When I saw the only changes were a slightly larger hard drive (Which I can upgrade myself), and a bump in Ram, which I already have maxed at 4gb, I was less than impressed.

Now, if they had changed the graphics card, and or added the multi-touchpad, that would have been a different story. It is definatly not worth it to update to the current model. What I have will serve my needs for many years to come.

exactly! maybe it's just me, but i can't understand the notion of buying something expensive and being prepared to take a hit on it after 3 months for something so minor. especially considering that in another 3 months there will probably be another update...where does it end? What is the motivation?

I agree! My last laptop was a budget HP. Mechanically it's still sound but just far too poor performance wise. I had it two years. I fully expect my new macbook to last me 3 years at least...if it doesn't i'll be gutted!!! Sure new stuff will come along, but i can't afford to replace all the time. Plus, i get attached to my laptops :D

I went through 6 computers last year. All of them worked fine, but I just kept hopping. My goal is to stick with the Macbook for 5 years (60 months), from 12/08 to 12/12. I don't know if it will last that long (nor if I will), but it's worth a try. I like the idea of using a computer for years and years while ignoring trends. We'll see how it goes. So far, so good. 2/60. :^)

Mines under warranty for the next 3 years so unless its stolen I won't be upgrading until atleast then.

I don't jump on the bandwagon right away. I've had my PC for less then a year and it's outdated but I haven't upgraded or anything. I didn't updated my iPod until the touch came, and when I get my MacBook I won't upgrade it for sometime.

I have found that my older Macs still work just fine. With wintel machines after they were 6 months old they never seemed to ever work like new again. When I open finder in my iMac and see all of the Macs networked on the device list I know that I really don't need a new computer.

I notice a difference between my original CD MBP Vs. the other C2D Macs but not much on the others. If well over $10,000 of various latest and greatest Macs that I have purchased hasn't yielded any noticeable performance then I don't think another $3,000 machine will either.

I am in recovery now and promise I won't be tempted for at least another 3 months.

I bought my MB in September. I could care less about any of the updates since then. I'm on applecare, and certainly won't upgrade before that expires. Only thing I wish I had was a better graphics card, but even that, I can do without.

I can justify myself. I bought my Blackbook on Jan 17th 2008. I was planning on upgrading harddrive and ram anyway. so, I contacted apple, and they said they would cut me a break and allow me to exchange even though it had been past the return date. So for 149.90, i got a gig of extra ram, .2 processor bump and a 100 gigs of extra storage.
