In many ways. Like the stability of iOS 9 on the new iPhones isn't smooth like iOS 6 was for the 5 and the hardware is too expensive for 16GB of base storage. Not a terrible phone but I feel as if Apple is around 2 years behind everyone else. There software is still better than Android for basic things but still is behind.
iPhone 4 was the last magical iPhone.
I am no longer excited for the iPhone 7
Greed/Profit Margins is Apple's number one priority now.
    Same goes to the macs.

Personally I don't believe Apple owes me anything and therefore cannot be letting me down. I buy Apple products but only the ones that work for me.

But if someone pays over $650 for a phone. It should be very similar to the hardware of other phones. 720 LCD screen in 2016 is a joke. 16GB as well. The iPhone 5 was an excellent value for 2012. But not the 6/6S

The problem is that a products value isn't really determined by the components. The value of a product is dictated by the price people are willing to pay for it. That is a cell phone that does not have the capability that you want, and therefore is not worth the price tag, so you don't buy it. If the world agrees, their phones will stop selling and they'll have to lower the price or up the specifications.

It's unfortunate, but that's really how it works. They'll make whatever product they believe will sell at the lowest price point possible, and then sell it for the highest possible profit. If people buy it, it's worth the price to them, and if they don't, then it isn't.

6S Plus is the best iPhone I have ever used hands down (and I didn't feel that about the 6 plus or even the 5S or 5 when they were new). You have some valid bullet points. I don't appreciate 16GB base storage (but I do appreciate 64GB being the second tier). Speed hasn't been an issue with this phone though.

My 6s Plus is best iPhone I have owned. Works great with AirPort Extreme, Apple TV, my MacBook Pro and iPad Air 2.
Don't feel let down in least.

No complaints here. If I didn't like my 6s, I would sell it and buy something I did like. Specs don't matter much if they are for a product you don't care for.

A: Apple doesn't need to spec war for their phones because the software (iOS) is written specifically for their hardware. So they do not need to cram 4gb of RAM in a phone. They do not need to over spec with Quad/Octo core CPU's. (Besides Apple's A9 chip still out performs all other android chips with less cores. More doesn't mean better.)

B: Small screens such as an iPhone 6 or 6s wouldn't benefit a whole lot from higher resolution. No reason to slap 1440p res in a 4.7" screen. The 750p in the 6 and 6s is adequate enough for a small panel. Higher resolution only drains more battery power for almost no visual gain.

However I do think Apple will bump the 7 to 1080p and may make the 7+ native res so that it doesn't scale it back down to 1080p.

I can agree with the screen resolution. 750p is kinda bad for a $650 phone in 2015/16. I know the whole "300 ppi is the threshold of the human retina" but you can't deny that when you look at phones with 400+ ppi there is a difference.

I do feel that the 6s+ is priced very reasonably though. You get a 1080p screen, powerful hardware, great battery life, great camera with OIS, and a fast Touch ID sensor.

I'm not a big fan of the 6/6s exterior design, as I don't think it's as elegant as it could be.

iOS overall has been very good for me though. iOS 9.2.1 runs amazingly well on an iPhone 5, which is 3+ years old hardware.

For me, things like the 750p display, f/2.2 aperture, no OIS standard, and 16GB are let-downs.

I expect all of those things to change this year, however.

I think iPhones is the only place where Apple has kept me happy. I find myself using more and more Microsoft apps and I recently switched to a Surface because of the lack of MBP updates. We will see where 2016 takes us.

    Apple isn't letting anyone down.

They've simply fallen behind. No longer a leader, no longer the innovative company they once were, they have sunk to the level of an average company making above average revenue and profits based on their inflated premium gross profits.

They earned the right to command the margins they currently enjoy. It's as simple as that. The cash pile buys them recovery time.

Why was the 5 excellent value? It had a 4 inch non HD display. Most android devices at the time had much bigger displays and were 720p. Some were amoled.

Let's hope 2016 helps them get their innovative mojo back. I definitely agree that Apple has fallen behind in innovation and is no longer the extremely innovative company they once were. While I don't think they make bad products by any means, I think they have a bit of room to improve especially over the lackluster 2015. They do deserve the money they have from all the years of innovation, but they can't rest on their laurels and need to continue innovating for sure.

I think the 6S+ is a great phone - very happy with it. Insanely fast Touch ID, snappy, doesn't reload apps. Looking forward what Apple can do with 7, although I'll most likely hold off until 7S as locked into contract for 2 years

The thing about Apple is I kinda feel like they have fallen behind. I remember 2007 when the OG iPhone was first announced and the rest of the mobile industry was like "oh ****" It would go on to completely change the mobile industry forever. I remember in 2010 when iPhone 4 dropped and pretty much knocked the the entire tech industry on its ass...again. Beautiful Retina display that (at the time) was the best looking display on a mobile device. Great camera that recorded HD video, that (at the time) looked amazing. And the icing on the cake, FaceTime. Video chatting that actually worked? And it was easy to use? Amazing! The hype around the iPhone 4 was insane and that little guy more than lived up to the hype. And that was the last iPhone that truly had the insane hype around it.

That right there is the Apple that needs to come back. I'd love for iPhone 7 to launch and once again knock the industry on its ass. Hell make it a revolution of the highest form. I'd love for iPhone 7 to have the best display in the industry. Better than Samsung, better than LG or Sony. I'd love for iPhone 7 to have the absolute best camera. Not a half assed "it just gets the job done most of the time" camera. No, the best camera in a phone.

Is iPhone 6S a bad phone? Nope, not at all. Could it have been better? Yep. I just hope Apple comes out swinging this fall and launch a product that's truly "magical".

Is it as smooth as it once used to be on iOS 8?
