I don't get the whole wireless charging thing. Wireless charging is slower than plugging it directly in. Plus I would rather carry my lightening cable than a huge wireless charging dock. Plus how hard is it to pick up the little lightening cable and plug it into the dam phone. The time difference and convenience between wireless charging and plugging in the little cable is virtually nothing. Have people become that lazy that they can't take 2 extra second to pick up the little cable and plug it into the little socket on the phone. How hard and long does it take.
Wireless charging definitely isn't about speed. It's about convenience. If you need to charge quickly, there happens to be quick charge features on a number of Android devices.
Wireless charging is more about maximizing your device's idle time. Putting your phone on a wireless charger is just as easy as putting your phone on the desk. Except, now it's being topped off. So it's actually not even so much about the whole "don't need to plug in a wire" thing (though that is quite nice); it's much more about having your battery levels be topped off throughout the day/time because anytime it's idle, it's charging, too.
You set up the charger once, and that's it. It's there. And if you have a charging stand (as I do), you can even check your phone while it's charging as notifications come in, etc.
As for your concerns about traveling, you don't have to necessarily bring the wireless charger with you when you travel. When you travel, just bring your cables as you normally would have to anyway. That's the thing about wireless charging, it's an extra feature. Keyword here being "extra." You can still charge the old way with the wire to your heart's content. Maybe you don't want to spend the money on a wireless charger. Luckily, it's a choice. There's nothing "lazy" about people who use wireless charging. It's convenience. Maximizing your device's idle time, so the battery is always being juiced and/or topped off.
But again, don't let me or anyone else tell you. The day it comes to the iPhone, a lot more people will begin to understand.
