Definitely prefer the T shaped connector, I've used the plastic original, the L shaped and the rMBP one. One of the things I liked about the MagSafe was that if you tripped on the lead it popped out. I have dealt with plenty of calls where customers have tripped over their lead on a Windows laptop, it's fallen and the laptop has got damaged (usually the screen).

The L-Shape connector does not have this benefit if caught from certain angles, the MBP will get dragged backwards. This defeats the whole purpose of the original design, so I'm glad they've gone back to something similar.

If you catch on the L-type connector at 0 degrees angle you're likely to pull your laptop far enough for it to fall of wherever it is sitting.

It's just defeating the purpose of having a magsafe at all...

T-connector all the way. I'm so glad I skipped the whole L-era altogether. Seen so many destroyed L cords... And they were a PITA to fix as well. T connectors >> way easier to fix.

I think the problem Apple have now is that their design of the Magsafe connection has a fundamental flaw: the connection cross-section is rectangular. If the cross section of the plug and socket were, for example, trapezoidal, any twisting of the plug would not cause it to lock in the socket, preventing it from coming undone. That would then allow L connectors, or any other shape, to be used, while still allowing the plug to disconnect if bumped.

cord coming from the rigth or back --> L looks neater (and puts less stress on the cord-connector junction)

cord coming from the left --> T looks neater (and puts less stress on the cord-connector junction)

2 out of 3 L wins.

And for some users the cord comes from the back 99% of the times anyway.

Maybe Apple thought the shape difference is useful today to quickly tell Magsafe1* from Magsafe2, and in 2-3 years the Magsafe2 will go back to L.

*assuming the old T shaped Magsafe1 is now irrelevant. (fact: the OP didn't know about it)

I prefer the T. For one, my L Shaped connector always seems to bind and twist whereas the T connector stuck the cable 'out' more and that didn't happen.

really missing the magsafe l-shaped, much stronger hold than the magsafe 2 that keeps disconnecting every minute...

I am surprised we have not seen a cheap knockoff adapter that converts the T to L .

With so many bad reviews for the T model i bet an L adapter would be a hit .

This was a great idea to make sure your adapter did not come loose unless you wanted it to but it was for the original T Magsafe.

The L-cable never was any good in my opinion because it either blocked the adjacent port or faced the other way. Basically there was only one direction to connect it,
That's also why I never liked the L shape either. I prefer the T connectors, but I heard that the newer T magsafe falls out too easily. If that is true then Apple should go back to the original T magsafe. That is the one I like the best.

If anything it needs too much force to pull out.
