so got really excited about finally upgrading my iPhone SE 2020 model, ordered the 15 Pro Max in black.......

then all the reviews started scaring me, they get HOT [probably a software fix will have to be implemented to throttle these to alleviate heat issues with processor and titanium rails] and they SCRATCH/SHATTER if you look @ them, and performance wise they are not all that compared to the 14 Pro Max they are replacing>

sure if you wanto shoot video direct to USB SSD it may be a reason to buy one of these new toys.... but for anyone else looking to upgrade from earlier iPhones the 15 Plus is the choice I would and have made, so I sent the "Pro Max" back!!!

very happy with this thing and the battery lasts FOREVER, its lighter than the "Pro Max", the back glass doesn't shatter as easily as the "Pro Max" and the finish doesn't chip off like the new ahem superior "titanium" nor does it want to spontaneously combust with normal use!!!!!

"Pro Max" my *SS !!!

Good for you finding what you like, regardless of the internet poopooing your decision!

I don't understand the promotion argument that people bring up everytime something like this is mentioned. I have a 13 Pro and a 2022 SE work-issued phone (so 120hz and 60hz, respectfully) and while I can easily see the difference, I don't care in the slightest. My mac and external monitor are 60hz, my work monitors are 60hz, my tv is 60hz.

If you're not a gamer (I'm not), then what's the big deal?

Why believed all reviews before verifying them by yourselves to see if what they said are accurate? I would not make any decisions and judgments from others’ says.
Glad to hear you are happy with your choice😊.

thanks for your reply:)
I did not rely solely on the feedback/views of others;

i did buy a 15 pro max first and thoroughly tested it out for myself and wasn’t too impressed…

the 15 plus feels like a better made and thought out device, not like the pro max which seems like it was rushed to market half baked…

What really always annoys me about the non pro phones is their price, especially if you're going for the plus.
Here in Germany a plus with 256gb is 1.229,- EUR which is crazy to me. The 128gb version is 1.099,-. I really love having a promotion display because I often scroll through my photos library to look for something. Paying so much money and then missing out on so many features really bothers me. This year the regular 15 really got a lot of great features, but the price difference in my opinion is still too small. That being said I also didn't get the 15 Pro Max this year. After seeing the first real life pictures of the colors I cancelled my order and decided to keep my 14 Pro Max which is still at 100% battery health and works like a dream.

I still think that glass shattering problem was one of a kind (maybe some mistake in production) and that "heatgate" about which everyone talking some errors in iOS 17 which (i think) will be fixed in some of next releases.

However in terms of design I like more this years base models and especially plus. I have feeling that PROs are more experiment than mature product (sorry apple). But it is 1st iphone made with titanium and I believe next one will be better.

I'm gonna do it in next few days. Too many issues with 15 Pro Max. Heats up for no reason and battery life is even worse than 14 Pro Max. Gonna miss 120hz a bit but better battery life makes up for it.
(Also returning Ultra 2 for Series 9, just too bulky and uncomfortable for everyday use for me)

Did the exact same thing. While I didn't have any deal breaker issues that some people are having with the pro max, I couldn't justify the $300 difference between the two phones. In the end I'm very happy with the 15 Plus. I don't care about pro motion or the extra zoom.

My husband has the 15 Pro Max in deep blue and I have that model, too. Unfortunately I don’t get along with the way pwm is implemented in the display on my phone so I’m sending it back and getting the Pink 15 Plus.

My husband and I didn’t have any overheating issues. My husband has hundreds of apps and he was using the camera very heavily and we did FaceTime since he’s traveling. No overheating.

I did have an iPhone 11 Pro that used to overheat like some of the 15 Pro models are said to be doing, so I believe it’s just a bad batch. Maybe it’s bad batteries. I think that was the problem with my 11 Pro.

So I’m cautious and reserving judgement as to whether or not the 15 Pro/Pro Max series as a whole is intrinsically flawed in some way.

I don’t think my titanium rails feel fragile. I used it around the house yesterday and I didn’t put any scratches on it. I don’t know, it looks, works, and feels fine to me. 🤷‍♀️

Some of the low light photos I took were much more grainy than I expected but that could just be my unfamiliarity with using the new camera.

All that being said, I do look forward to the Pink Plus. I hope I’ll be able to use and keep it. After viewing the camera comparisons I saw, I think that I’m going to like the camera a lot.

Aesthetically I think both my blue 15 Pro Max and my daughter’s pink regular 15 are both gorgeous but in different ways.

Not gonna lie though, the back glass fragility of the 15 Pro Max does concern me as I do often put my phone in a purse. Even in its own pocket it’s got some vulnerability. I’d hope a sturdy clear case would have mitigated that, had I been able to keep it. Still, I am glad to be getting a phone that has roughly the same resistance to that sort of pressure as my 12 Pro Max.

I do also look forward to seeing exactly how monstery the alleged monster battery life will actually be.

I think that you jumped the gun by returning your iPhone 15 pro max.

The heat issue will probably be resolved within a week.

For those of us on here who are also mac users, we know that when new software is pushed out, sometimes a bug will work its way into the OS, and you get a “runaway process” that massively consumes CPU. When this happens to a Mac, the fans spin up for no reason, and the more tech savvy users will then check the activity monitor….. and low and behold, there is a runaway process eating up all of the CPU. …. for example, a normally tiny background process like “secd” will suddenly be consuming 400% of the CPU Non-stop, unrelenting.

You can have a million good macs, but the software bug will not affect them all uniformly. Some of them will start overheating, but others will not be affected by the software bug.

My guess is that this is what has happened at the iPhone 15 pro launch with iOS 17, because when I updated to iOS 17.1 public beta today, the heat issues that I was having on the 15 pro disappeared.

I think that those people who are postulating about about the 15 pro design or the A17 chip or whatever—they are over thinking this possibly. Software bugs and runaway processes do not infect all hardware equally, there is an element of randomness to it. I had three 2012 macs in my house running Catalina some years back, and one or two of them would occasionally get hit with a software bug and runaway process and subsequent overheating after an update, while another Mac with same processor would be totally fine.

The overheating issue for iPhone 15 pro is real, but my guess is that will be fixed in a week or two, though, with a software update that doesn’t necessarily neuter the A17 pro, but just corrects some runaway processes that are eating up all the CPU power. It’s probably just a bug that randomly affects some phones running iOS 17. The same kind of thing happens to macs all the time.

I love my Pro Max. I really like the Plus too. I honestly thought about getting the Plus after the announcement and comparing the 2. I kept my decision of the 15 Pro Max. I love the Natural Titanium look. Have been wanting a color like this since the iPhone 4 "grey color".

Yeah, Sonoma had a Gatekeeper process running amok in Power Nap for me the next day after upgrade, came home from work to a toasty hot laptop. Rebooted and it's been fine - and overall feels better than Venturda at least.

As for the iPhone I had some heat issues on my 14 Pro, so I do think there's some credence to this being an iOS 17 problem and not a 15 Pro issue.

I had a friend who did and she is much happier, even though I told her from the start to go 15 plus with such a new untested design but now she knows lol

I’m very happy with the 15 PM. Fortunately I don’t have any of the issues. I do plan to pick up a 15 Plus for my dad to replace his 8. So I will get to check that out as I’m setting it up and I am looking forward to it, seems like the non-Pro iPhones this year are really good.

Silly post. So you send things back based on click-bait day one sensationalism reviews and feel compelled to share your belief in said day one click-bait with us and diss what many of us know from actually using it is a really good phone. Sheesh.
