I use FingerPrint ID a lot on my laptop (via TouchBar) and on iPhone and iPad. I really miss it when I'm on my iMac. I don't use the TouchBar for much else. It's FingerPrint ID I want. If Apple produced a keyboard with FingerPrint ID, I'd buy one.
For those who don't use an Apple mouse of keyboard, it might be awkward. But I'd rather not have the feature on a FingerPrint ID only device. Perhaps I'd be content if the sensor was on the iMac screen or surround.
Perhaps Face ID somewhere on the iMac screen would be a good alternative.
Who else might want this feature?
How would you like it implemented?

To the original question, No.

Here is a short list of 3rd party thumbprint scanners that are MacOS compatible:

Face ID scanners are available, too.
Wow. Thank you mikehalloran. I didn't think of these. As I understand the Neurotechnology website, there are macOS SDKs for several of these devices. Is there hooks in macOS to enable the full FingerPrint ID functionality as exists in iOS?

It would be awesome if Apple released a new keyboard for the Mac with a built in fingerprint sensor.

As it exists in iOS? I don’t know.

There are government and private industry contracts that would freeze out Apple if there weren’t hooks for the secure ID devices that exist including retinal scanners.
