I don't finance tech over time. If I don't have the money to pay the CC bill in full or pay for it outright out of my bank account then I'm not buying it.

I've never financed anything, hopefully never will with the possible exception of a house.

I stick it on my charge card, which automatically pays the full balance off at the end of every month. It means I get points and purchase protection as with a credit card but with absolutely no chance that I'll pay a penny in interest :)

If you can't afford to pay for anything in cash, you can't afford that item.

Queso's way is same-as-cash, without the risk of getting mugged, or having your $100 bills rejected.

That's how I bought my iMac, although stated "Cash"

I paid for my MacBook with my best buy card as a way to build credit. I have 18 months no interest will be able to pay it off in about 6 months since I put $300 down on it already.

I voted other because my first computer was a gift. My second computer was financed due to my wife's job giving us a monthly allowance to cover it's cost. Every computer purchase since then (5 of them) have been made with cash. I'm on a trend of buying used and so cash is the only option. However, even if I decided to buy a new machine I wouldn't finance because I am working to become debt free and don't use credit for routine purchases anymore.

For my own personal purchase, I don't finance my tech-related purchases.

Never.

Interest rates are too high and I don't want to make loan sharks and tax-payer-sponsored-quantitiative-easing-financed bankers happy by earning more money through high finance rates.

If you need to finance a computer to "afford" it, you don't need it. There are public computers for use for free at libraries, schools, etc. Don't pretend that you need a MBP to complete your studies. That's complete BS.

That's complete ignorance.

Yeah.. when I said cash I meant "immediate available liquid income". I didn't go onto the the Apple Store and buy my Mac Pro with paper money but I did buy it with my CC that was paid off 100% immediately. My point was that I, as a rule, don't buy anything I don't have cash for in the bank. While so many others have bills up the wazoo and wonder how they are going to get by every week I am swimming pretty with plenty of liquid cash to just do what I want with and I still am able to have nice toys. Waiting for something and paying for it instead on paying years of interest saves you a shiatload of money by my age (32).

This is obviously concerning the majority of Americans on this forum.

It is normal that if you simply can't afford something, you just don't buy it. Therefore I've never financed anything in my life (exception of my house). Everything I have is mine, including my cars and all that. It's all been paid for.

Here in Holland or Europe for that matter, it's the most logical thing ever. Most people don't even have creditcards. Why would they? I only have one to purchase stuff from foreign countries.

Hey, some of us Americans use the credit card to get free points and then pay it off every single month no problems =P

Plus, I'd rather lose my credit card than my checkcard, because it has a 1k limit whereas the checkcard has a limit equal to my bank balance XD
