How do you like it? I have a Powershot SX50 HS and love it very much. I have started with Powershot S3 IS then SX30 IS, then now SX50 HS. I am not ready for DSLR just yet because I am still learning with manual controls. Sorry.

We are all still learning. Do you take images of the moon by any chance? How do they look?

I also had a bunch of those models (S2, SX10, SX40...) and was considering the SX60 but decided instead to go for the Nikon P900. Most people on the dpreview forums didn't find much of an improvement (and some thought it was a step backwards) from the SX50, but I only ever had the SX40 to compare it to.

The SX60 is potentially a worthy upgrade from the SX50 if you care about the extra features like wifi, the bigger/brighter LCD screen, the wider end. Many didn't like the image quality compared to their SX50s (but maybe they had just learned how to get the best out of their 50s, and the 60s weren't working the same way...) and some didn't like how the button layout had changed.

I had all cameras with me for a weekend to test and play around, my SX40, a friend's SX60 and a P900 I'd just purchased. The Nikon looks, and is, WAY bigger, but it doesn't feel heavier. And what I found funny is that the button layout on the P900 was closer to the SX40 than the SX60 was, since they'd moved the buttons around! So it actually felt a little more familiar using the Nikon than the Canon. (Although there is a bit more menu navigation on the P900 to accomplish a few things, I found.) I had been worried about switching since I'd only ever had these same Canon cameras for years and didn't want to learn a new system, but it honestly didn't seem difficult to switch at all. I ended up keeping the Nikon and returning the Canon to my friend.

It also depends how much of a hurry you're in, since this fall the SX60 will be 2 years old, and it might be time for the SX70 to come out. The SX60 wasn't very popular, and its price never really came down very much. So, if you're going to pay almost full price anyway, you might want to wait for the SX70 to be announced in a few months. The SX60 was tempting for me, coming from the SX40. But coming from the SX50, it's probably not as much of an upgrade as it could be, unless things like wifi and the LCD screen are important to you. (They are to me, which is why I was considering it.)

Oh I forgot about that. I did but the sky is filled with clouds so I gave up. I will try again next time.

Sarah do I know you from other website? :)
Anyway I heard some small negatives about SX60 so I'm not sure if I'm ready to upgrade to SX60 because I'm happy with SX50 so far. I am looking forward to hear more about SX70. LCD screen doesn't matter to me much. Wifi would be nice and long zoom, higher ISO with less noise and raw are what I am after.

Maybe! I do get around... ;)

If you're happy with the SX50 and in no rush then it's a good time to wait and see what's coming. I just read a bunch of forum posts today of people who have just purchased SX50s recently and are loving it, so there's no doubt that camera is still a crowd pleaser, even though it's coming up on four years old?!

I was too impatient to hold off any longer, my camera was even older, and because of our travel schedule, I'll be on an extended trip to Europe when the SX70 is expected to be available. So even when it does come out, I'm not paying European prices for it and would have to wait weeks or even months to buy it back in Canada. That's why I made a decision and went with the P900. The SX60 just didn't compare, and it's too difficult now to find SX50s here (plus it didn't have the wifi, gps or upgraded LCD screen that I wanted, so I had already ruled it out).

I can only hope that I'm not kicking myself when the SX70 comes out, but I already have some nice P900 cruise vacation shots from a couple of weeks ago that I'm very happy with, so I can't complain. :)

    Are you on Anandtech? :)
Since you are happy with P900 you might not ready until SX80 or SX90 if Canon decides to upgrade in the future?

LOL, I have so many forum accounts that had to check to see if I'm on Anandtech... nope, not there. I'm sarah11918 in every forum, and I'm sure there's not another one.

I'm going to have to be happy with the P900, because being just a hobby photographer, I really can't justify an upgrade more than every few years. And knowing that I'm too lazy to deal with more than one lens, let alone more than one camera, I'm a "one all around camera" kind of gal. At least I've had both it and the SX60 in my hands at the same time to compare, and I know with what's available right now, I have the one that suits me better. :)

PS: I've written a lot about the differences between the two on dpreview. You can find my posts here: http://www.dpreview.com/members/7590002483/overview

Oh ok I must have confused you with someone else sorry.

Yes, I check with your posts and also I compared 3 different camera. P900 is the most expensive but I am surprised it lacks RAW and some neat/cool features P900 does not have. I could not believe people think SX60 is better than SX50! I noticed P900 have a higher rating than 2 cameras. But I always trust Canon :)
