iPad mini Who has a mini coming tomorrow? What accessories did you get with it?

Gone for the blue base model. For me it was a £130 upgrade after selling my mini 6 and I think it will be worth it for the 128gb/8gb RAM and the AI features as they roll out in the coming months/years.

Already have screen protectors, magnetic paperlike (way better to be able to add/remove it as needed!), Apple Smart Folio and other cases I’ve accumulated for the mini 6. I have a Spigen back cover and a STM Dux bumper case for when needed.
Pleased they will all fit my new mini 7 😊
At least that’s an advantage of incremental updates!

Can I ask which Apple Pencil you had from the Pros? I thought i could use my old Apple Pencil (2021 I think? It was before the Pros and usb-c were introduced) but it doesn't align right on my new ipad mini :( Its annoying that Apple usually decides to re-design stuff from scratch rather than try to maintain compatibilty every now and then.

That checks out, unfortunately… the one that I have is the new Apple Pencil Pro that got released with the M4 Pros. I think the new mini is only compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro and the USB-C Apple Pencil.

In this case I understand why they changed the magnet layout, it was so they could also have the camera on the same edge on the iPad Pros. Everyone was clamoring for them to put the camera on the long edge, and they got what they wished for at the expense of a new, less-compatible Pencil connection.
 
I have this ESR case. It’s nice because the cover/stand can be removed as it’s magnetically attached. Probably my favorite case so far. Back is clear yet glossy which I rather have frosted because of fingerprints. But not bad overall


I paid $9.99 refurbished on Amazon, and it came opened but brand new. Even had the protective wrap on the front and back of the clear case. Can't go wrong.

Have the blue 128 GB mini 7 as of this afternoon. Just ordered an Apple Pencil pro from Amazon for $100 with tax ($94.99). I don’t need any folios because I have 2 from the mini 6.

Did in store pick up for my purple ipad 7 mini 256gb at noon today! Got a purple moko case from Amazon! Matches my purple iPhone 14 Pro perfectly!

Here’s a pic of my dog Zofia at the Apple Store with me and pics of the case I got!

Traded in a 2018 11” pro for the mini. Picked up a Pencil Pro and a Torro Leather folio with flap for the Pencil. Both are really nice. Probably going to pick up a slim aramid case for using around the house.

Picked mine up today, 128GB Cellular. There is one difference the reviewers/media didnt mention between 6 and 7- on the 6, the cellular antennas and touchID button are black. On the 7, they are grey to match the new charcoal grey folio lol. Black looked better.

Using same smart folio from the 6 (they are forwards/backwards compatible, dont waste your money) and got the pencil pro last week from amazon for $90

I love this case, too. Too bad they don’t have the other colors anymore. I prefer the frosted black and frosted green over the current options.

Is that the dark purple or the deep cherry? The new purple looks like a hybrid of the previous pink and purple, just as it was like they’d combined silver and gold when starlight came out.

Zofia sure approves of the mini! Adorable.

Dark purple case. Yes I agree the mini iPad is a lighter color purple this time.

Still using my ESR Kickstand case from my mini 6. Put a JTECH screen protector on, but it’s slightly crooked, kinda driving me crazy but there’s no dust underneath it.

Well I decided to upgrade after all. Ordered and I will go and pick it up after work this evening. I'm going to use my Smart Folio case I was using for my mini 6. I've just ordered some glass screen protectors and will have to order a new USB C charging brick as I've seen I won't be getting one in the box.

I ordered a Metapen Pencil A11 to go with my iPad mini A17, however it turns out changes to the screen (impedance?) mean it does not work reliably (get gaps/glitches). Metapen customer support was amazing when I reported it and refunded me after verifying the issue themselves. I've got a different (non-Apple) pencil on order, see if this issue affects a wider set of them.

I caved and went to an Apple store and got the denim smart folio. The color is muted and matches the blue mini really well and I love the magnetic attachment for easy removal.

I also have a wood skin just for the back on order for , will post a photo once it arrives.


Interestingly the couple of Apple employees I interacted with were uncertain that there was a new mini released just the day prior. Kind of wierd, would think Apple would be much more on the ball about communicating to the floor staff about new devices.

This color I don’t see online directly from Targus, but colorwise I think it’s ideal if you want folio alternative to Apples and well protects both the mini 7 and Apple Pencil.

Got the Supcase UB pro. Great 360 protection complete with kick stand and pen holder on top. Sold my previous as I thought there is a design change. Bought back a new one after seeing it below $20 for sale.

Also ordered a magic folio with keyboard and trackpad from a goojodoq brand for $50, love how similar it is to the apple Magic Keyboard which they don’t make for the mini.
