I have the base model 15" rMBO Late 2013 , arrived today.

These forums had me worried abut all kinds of things.

Lid doesn't creak, sound is loud, boots super fast, screen is very bright and not dim, no yellow tint just great bright white,no spots or light leakage, wifi works perfectly, colors are great.

So I am thinking people are just looking for problems.

Did you buy it online? Also could you post a picture?

So this thread is telling me that the fifth serial letter has no correlation with the quality of the display.

I will be ordering my third rmbp soon and have no idea what to do to ensure that it isn't broken. And no, I am not being OCD. My displays were distinctly dirty yellow and there were weird color shifts so don't belittle others' problems.

My first generation LG screen is fine. Pure whites, dark blacks, bright, vibrant colours - no IR or yellow tint. So far :)
The fifth digit in the serial number is a T. Mid 2012 15" rMBP.

It's supposed to tell you the week it was manufactured. There's a theory out there that newer versions (with 5th digits being N or greater on the alphabet list) have less problems...

Oh, I didn't know that. In that case, my 5th digit of the serial number is K.

Again, 0 issues with my screen.

Got mine a week ago, and its exactly the same. No problems at all.

My screen is mostly good. No yellow tint. If I would be really nit-picky I could complain about that the lower half is a bit darker than the upper half, but this is not noticeable to me in daily use.
panel is a LG
serial is "M"

Here it is next to my ASUS VS247, both at full brightness.

Mine is exactly the same..."M" serial and LG panel and darker bottom half.
For me it's noticeable in daily use so I'm going to exchange it probably around January so I can get a model with a more recent serial.

A fellow from the other "Yellow Tint" thread just got a 'Q' serial with pretty bad yellowing on the bottom half of the screen, unfortunately.

My own Q batch machine is great, but I guess it's still just luck of the draw after all, unfortunately.

You may be right, but I still think the odds of getting a good screen out of a more recent batch are better than right now.

LG screen (A019), "Q" in the serial string. Ordered last week in Switzerland, shipped from Shanghai via a little tour of Northern Europe (lucky thing!).

No yellow tint, no baclkight bleed issues, no crackling trackpad, no creaking case.

As this is my first ever Mac, I'm relieved; and very pleased with it so far.

I got a LG screen - and at first glance had no yellow and even backlighting.... but was watching tv last night - next thing i notice - some backlight bleed around the sides... Think this deserves a return????

If it bothers you, yes.

But maybe you should make that decision after macsumo's reality distortion field wears off. In other words, don't read his threads for a few days, and revisit the decision.
