For the waypoint the scenario is more that we are driving towards our destination and we decide we want to go to the nearest Wawa for coffee. So we want to set a waypoint. I do not think setting an ad-hoc waypoint mid-route is easy in any navigation.

I think using the voice command is best. I believe all you would have to say is "Navigate to the nearest Wawa". It might popup the list of Wawa's and you can just select the top one (the closest). But without voice, I think it would require extensive typing...

However the post was written in response to comments about using the screen during driving. I was trying to determine what “critical” event would cause me to interact with the screen? I couldn’t think of one.

In addition a SDV such as Tesla gets updates and new features much more than one that isn’t. Here is a minor example, the fold mirrors feature is going to get additional options about what locations the mirrors should be folded or not. Lots of quality of life stuff.

Yeah, I also very minimally need to use the UI for anything other than music selection.

Love getting new features. I think once other manufactures realize they need to focus on the OS/UI rather than just sitting back and relying on CarPlay, they will figure out that the Tesla/Rivian way IS the way...

Ah. This is the problem, not the weather nor the HVAC system... If you have moisture inside to the point the carpets are wet, you are trying to use the HVAC system to solve a problem that it is not designed to solve. If you solve the water ingress problem, I'll bet you have less need to interact with the HVAC controls (less)...

Door seals, sun/moon roof seals, sun/moon roof drains, seals around things that enter the firewall usually are the issue with water ingress.

I'm in the suburbs of NYC, we have very similar temperature swings. 2 weeks ago it was in the mid to high 60's, yesterdays was in the low 30's with rain. It's 34 degrees right now. This time of year, we have 20-30 degree (F) swings in temperature, and off and on rain.
The water ingress problem was the soles of my shoes and my soaking wet coat entering the car lol. I don't have any issues with the car itself. It just transfers to the carpets and seat and ultimately causes the car to mist up overnight. I solved it mostly with humidifier bags on the dashboard.
One of the problems the German and other traditional car manufacturers is having is a lot of the premium level of their vehicles has traditionally come from the engine. The engines manufacturered in Asia were pretty rubbish.
But not the drive trains are no better or worse. Agree the interiors are less premium than they used to be compared to their rivals.
From all the german cars I have owned, they've thankfully been reliable, but their reputation for reliability is vastly exaggerated I think. I always found that you pay for the drive quality and the refinement, whereas I think the landscape has changed in recent years as the competition have closed the gap. We are still not ruling out getting another Audi EV but I can't help but be impressed with a few of the other brands which is putting a rocket under the Germans in regards to what is on offer and for the price. My wife will ulimately make the decision and it boils down to if she wants to pay more per month for a car with less options, but with a German badge, or have a car that comes with just about every option for less money.

One of our Tesla's was in for service and they gave us a Model S Plaid. My goodness, I thought my Y was plenty quick with the accelerator package, but that just feels like a turtle in comparison. The S is a nice size especially for our guys who are used to driving a 3. I am not a fan of the half wheel though, feels like just a lot less to grip when needed. I get part of why they have it so you can see that front screen. And that is my other dislike is having 2 screens. I am sure you get used to it but the simplicity of a single screen for everything is very nice.

It’s always the wife’s decision don’t you know!
