Sold mine at cashforiphones.com.

On the day of the WWDC keynote, they were offering $420 for 16GB 3G iPhones in working condition.

That price has now come down to $315 (or possibly less, didn't check today).

The nice thing is that I get to keep my 3G until I get my 3GS. Cashforiphones sends shipping materials to you; once you receive it, you have 7 days to send your 3G to them.

The shipping materials are en route to me now; even if they arrive today, I'll still be able to wait until next Friday to give up my 3G. :)

Except for the double the speed (faster processor, double the L1 cache, added an L2 cache), double the ram, far better video camera (officially supported so there should be some cool video apps in the store), better camera, better battery life, future proofing on the new ATT towers, and a host of other things mentioned by apple.

i guess that would be worth it for people that use it to game and run memory intense applications, but i just simply dont game that much. I usually use for a phone and ipod. When on the go, i usually have my macbook pro with me, so i dont use it much for internet either:)

I just hope next years upgrade is worth it. I will just buy apple care for the phone and hold out.

Where in the world are you getting your info? As we speak 16 gb 3G iphones are all selling for well over 400;

Here is one ending in a few minutes and it is currently at $460 with 6 bids.

edit: I see now that the $315 you mention is for that cashforiphone site. You are getting ripped off if you get $315 for a 16 gig. Don't use a middleman. Sell it on craigslist or ebay.

I put mine up on Craigslist for $250. I had jailbroken it but not unlocked cause i upgraded the base band.

Within 5 minutes I had 35 phone calls/ texts or emails.

Guess I charged to little, now I have to use a crappy phone for a wekk and get up at 3am just to make sure i have the iPhone.

Or you could buy it right now online and have it at your door on the day it comes out. Oh, and shipping is free.

I put mine up on eBay late Wednesday night.
It's already at $231, from a starting bid of $0.99.
I got it as a warranty replacement just 6 days ago, so it's in excellent condition, and I advertised it as unlocked, though I won't actually unlock it until it's sold, so I can continue using it as-is.

The auction ends late next Wednesday, and I put in a one-day handling period, so I won't ship it out until Friday morning, after I've picked up my new 3G S.
I'm hoping for $400 or so.

I contracted with cashforiphones on June 8 and locked in at the $420 price. Seems reasonably inline with what 16GB 3G iPhones are going for on eBay and CL.

And, as I said in my post, I get to keep my 3G 'til I get the 3GS.

Edited to add: also, I don't pay any shipping, as the company sends a prepaid mailer. And no eBay or PayPal fees, so $420 is my actual profit.

I sold mine the day after WWDC on craigslist. I did not want to mess with Ebay or anything. I sold my 8GB 3G iPhone for $330. My friend later that day sold his 16GB 3G iPhone for $370.

I received about 15 replies at a posting for $320 and sold it for $330. He received about the same amount of replies. Turns out we sold his to someone who replied to mine. LOL...

I pre-ordered the 3G(s) from apple for delivery on June 19th at my work...

Neither phone was jail broken or unlocked.

I did.

16gb white...$400.

My buddy has one he just got a couple days before WWDC for $430 on Ebay.

when you put your sim card from a 3G iPhone that you sold into the original 2G iPhone and have to reactivate it and all does that mess up the data plan back to $20 a month because its not just a simple activation you have to check whether you are an existing iPhone customer and enter your phone number and everything seems weird to me.

You did really well. I just went through the process to get a quote and was told $225 - no way I'm giving it to them for that. I'll get more on ebay or craigslist for sure.

I know it has video capabilities, but i've had that ability on my 3G since last september (and has sound). just interested in reasonings.

What does "(and has sound)" mean anyway. Are you trying to say the 3gs will not record sound with the video? It does, well according to the getting started video.

And for reasons, unlocked built in video, autofocus, 3 MP camera, 32gb, twice the proc speed, new graphics, new screen surface.............

As for mine, I will sell it while in line on Craigslist like I have done the last 2 years. I sold my Samsung Blackjack while in line for the iphone, my iphone sold while inline for my 3g and I will sell my 3g while inline for my 3gs.

Sold my 16GB 3G which was unlocked on ebay for £350

ebay took about £37 including listing fees,
paypal took £12ish

so im left with £300

16GB 3GS is £440 so i will have to pay £140
32GB 3GS is £540 so i will have to pay £240

not sure which to go for, my 16GB was always almost full due to the amount of tv i watch on the tube, but £540 is a lot for the phone if I were to lose it/have it stolen.
