I personally love my tar. It went a way for a while, but it is back. Credit goes to Duke..... I mean Mr. Anderson

But many forums have different giudelines, so I have to change them.
The coolest is the random Flash avatars/signatures, you can take that so far with small interactive movies and Flash file sizes are VERY good these days.

I guess I just like fun avatars and find "canned" avatars to be a bit boring.
Go to a design forum and see the great avatars there. You can fit a lot of cool graphics in a little 20x20 cube.

Actually wdlove I think you have the best animated 'tar around here. It has enough movement not to be boring, but it is smooth enough and slow enough not to be annoying.

although that would be cool... it would also be quite annoying. if it were an .swf i could easily add sound controls or have a mouse event to set it off. as it is, i seem to be bending the 19.5k limit a bit. an .swf can be quite small; this same animation is 16k in Flash i could probably sneak in some sound effects and make it on demand. i think this would make animations less annoying too. you know... loop on demand.

That would be pretty good, but I lack the skills and willingness to do that. But if someone more experienced wants to do that for me I'd appreciate it .

Now that I have got two positive responses to my Avatar, it makes me ambivalent. I've had this so long that I will miss the smile. Then I really do like the Avatar that Mr. Anderson proposed. What makes me sad is that I didn't get more proposals.
