so many people are returning this phone

I think all the polls combined we have almost 10 people confirmed that have taken it back or are really considering making a thread about how they're gonna do it

There is no need for sarcasm - you know that you are wrong and there is a significant number of people returning their iPhones with various issues.

Two days ago in London, I was actually surprised to see in the store how many people were showing their new phones to the staff. They all were complaining about something. The Genius Bar was filled with iPhone 4 owners.

I have no plans to upgrade to the iPhone 4. While there have been some improvements, I was very disappointed that Apple did not increase the storage capacity. I'm almost out of space. I'll upgrade to whatever smartphone (iPhone 5, Droid) breaks the 32GB ceiling.
Droid X can go up to 40GB. Of course, you'd need to buy an SD card(s), and those aren't exactly cheap compared to what you're getting in the iPhone.

Sticking with the 3GS until the bugs are worked out of the iPhone 4. Only issue I have with the 3GS is the battery lasts less than a day. Could really use the 40% increase with the iPhone 4, but I'll wait for the next iteration before upgrading.

And absolutely no plans to look at any Droid/Palm/whatever phone. Too happy with the iPhone to leave it. :D
Once Apple completely overhauls the iOS UI and adds widgets/ live wallpapers, I'm sure quite a few Android switchers will be back for an iPhone. At least you won't be one of them...

I was all set on buying an iPhone 4 until I used one at the Apple Store. Thing can barely load web pages over 3G while holding it in your hand. I'll stick with my 3GS and not extend my contract. I smell Verizon around the corner anyway.
Me too. September? January? Before the holiday season, hopefully.

I'm eligible to upgrade my 3GS right now and was planning on going to the iPhone 4 a month or so after it came out. There's too many issues with them right now though that need to be worked out. I went from the original iPhone to the 3GS, skipping the 3G. I may skip a generation this time too and just wait for the iPhone 5 depending on how this all unfolds.

Unfortunately I do know some former iPhone users who wanted the iPhone 4 but these issues swayed them towards getting an Android phone.

Those people are uneducated and ignorant to the flaw.

Sort of like "if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around, does it make a sound?" -- if someone isn't experiencing any issues with their phone, does it matter if a flaw exists?

Speaking generally: there's a really simple solution. Worry about yourself, not others. If you're unhappy, return the phone and try again in June 2011.

Let's hope they'll be back once the iP4's issues are fixed and the OS gets a major UI overhaul.

I'm always open to new ideas. I'm wondering how you use your smartphone & why you're looking for more storage space.

Thanks ... :)

Yesterday I was in the Apple store in Los Angeles. Normally this is a very busy store. Upon arriving I noticed how unusually busy the Genius bar was. It seemed that it was all iPhone 4 problems. Not a laptop in sight. Many people went in specifically to return their iP4. It's rather sad to witness Apples fall from grace. The mood in the store was so negative.

This happens with any iPhone release. Last year, it was impossible to make an iPhone Genius appointment within a day or two. You had to wait 2-3 days for an appointment. This year as a test, I was able to make an appointment late that same day or be the first appointment in the morning. I chose the first appointment the next morning and then cancelled it after making it. Nothing wrong with my phone so I didn't need an appointment.

When the 3G came out, the wait for an appointment was even worse.
