Do you honestly intend to keep the AVP?

I ordered... several. If there's profit to be made all but one will be sold and the one I keep will be paid for by selling the others.

If the market isn't there, I'll play around with one for a week or two and then return them all. Zero risk.

I hope Apple will start blacklisting people like this who blatantly abuse their return policies. The rest of us are paying extra to subsidize this and are also getting our legit orders delayed.

Next fri will be interesting for sure. It's a bit different then most products I've purchased. I buy a lot of Apple products and the last thing I returned was the Apple AirPods Max.
I ended up returning my AirPods Max too. Never wanted to keep something so much, and then also need to return them. Just too heavy mostly but they were beautiful and looked great on my desk. Thats Apple for you sometimes. Turns out the AirPods Pro were better for me in every other way.

I don’t have an issue with anybody who might decide the Vision Pro isn’t for them after trying it out and then returning it. This is a brand new platform. No one really knows yet. I’m sure Apple is well aware of that fact and probably pricing it accordingly!

Why? We legitimately purchased and decided to bring it back. No different than any other product. You just need to be faster.

The thing is there are people who plan to return it, that may very well keep it.

Meanwhile, there are folks who have every intention to keep it, who may return it after all.

I think it balances out.

Well this was my MacBook upgrade year. I am still rocking a late 2016 MB Pro with Touch Bar and it's still running as smoothly as the day I took it out of the box. Still, nearly 8 years later I was steadfast on upgrading to the new M3 series of MacBooks this year, that is until I saw the demo for the Vision Pro and what was possible with it.
I am mainly excited about what productivity apps devs will create for it once it takes off. Not to mention the great entertainment features it brings to the table.
That said no one will ever surely know if they're going to keep it before actually using the thing at least for a few days. If I find myself going back to my trusty MacBook for most tasks or thinking it's too much of a hassle to binge my favorite TV shows on it then I might consider selling it in the future and putting the "spacial computing" dream on hold for now.

There are a few variables, but basically the only way it might balance out is if the majority of people change their minds. Not too likely.

True! Thankfully, the majority are already intending to keep it, 75 percent here.

20% restock fee?

shorter return window?

For people who are not planning to abuse return policy, these would be very unfortunate.

But Apple may eventually be forced to make the experience worse for everyone if there continue to be people who buy 5 AVPs just in case there is a profitable 2nd hand market and return if they cannot sell them for profit on ebay.

If I DID decide to get the Vision Pro, it would be with the full intention of returning it within the returns window. I BET you I would be bored of it and the novelty will have worn off before the end of the window. I did the same with the PSVR2, was literally bored of it within a couple of days (nothing new over PSVR1, but GT was amazing to be fair).

I am in the UK and it won't be here for a while, by which time I don't think there will be much intrigue left to be honest (it will have been dissected and discussed by hundreds of YouTube videos by then). When that time comes though I would have no hesitation in demo'ing it. Also, if 'spacial computing' is truly transformative, I should WANT to keep it and completely change my mind right? However I think we all know that's unlikely to be the case.

And before people moan about people who do this, these companies make an absolute fortune off you, Apple in particular. Plus the returns policy is there to be used, so grow up and use it as per your consumer rights. Why wouldn't you use it to your advantage is the real question.

Wondering.. if you get some Zeiss lens made up, subscription ones, can they too be returned?

There is no way on earth to enforce this

It's self enforcing. If it becomes a profit liability. They write-off lowlifes.

But I'm having difficulty imaging most people keeping these after the novelty wears off. Some people will somehow integrate into a work load, and rationalize it that way. Others would have to just be obsessed and in debt. Then there're people who say they just have the cash, which can mean all sorts of things, some pretty cringeworthy.

I get the super high price MacBooks and tablets. This I don't get yet.

Been rumored for some time within the Apple Dev community that Apple is going to start locking Apple Store purchases to 1 per AppleID + device for pre-orders. Not for post-release orders. Or just flat out require AppleCards for pre-order purposes.

If anyone will figure out how to limit scalping, they will. If they care enough to do so. Personally, I doubt they care enough to do so.

Every entitled consumer in America has a dossier detailing their purchase and return habits. Eventually retailers tighten return policies for abusive customers.
Yep. Many retailers have been joining The Retail Equation, where your information is shared with all other retailers. Too many returns at one store could prevent you from buying/returning elsewhere.
