Many of us are still waiting to get our M1 iPad Pros later this month or next month. Who is planning to cancel their order now that we've seen iPadOS 15? I am debating. I ordered the iPad Pro 12.9 M1 but I still have my 2018 which works great. The extra ram was something I was really looking forward to having but I was hoping to get real external monitor support for iPadOS 15. Unfortunately that's not happening.

Anyone still on the fence? Have you cancelled already? If IPadOS is locked at 5GB RAM, what is the point of having 8GB or even 16GB RAM?

If your whole reason for buying the 2021 iPad was based on iOS 15, you probably shouldn’t be purchasing it to begin with.

Agreed - which is why I was fine with my order arriving after WWDC. I knew I could cancel before I ever got it. The idea was to have it on order so if it brought some of the differentiating features I was hoping for, I wouldn't have to start at the back of the queue of not getting it until July or August.

I just ordered one today so definitely not cancelling! I was waiting to see if it would be the 16 GB with 1/2 TB of storage or an 8 GB with 256 GB storage. I went with the lesser model and the plus is it will be here on Wednesday.

I wish they had announced the pro apps (final cut, etc…) since there are people out there who want to use them. Beyond that I don’t think there is a good reason to cancel.

I’m personally happy with the improvements to the multitasking and like the swype from the bottom right for notes thing.

I‘m not cancelling (or returning in my situation). I had the 2017 10,5 Pro that had the horrible bright spot above the home button. I had it since it was new and it was just time for an upgrade. I didn’t buy the M1 on a rumor that it would have an amazing update, I bought it because I’m a ’prosumer’ and it is the pro I can finance with my Apple Card and for the same price as last years 1” would’ve been.

M1 has NO features above a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro period.
better off with a M1X Macbook Pro or M1X Mac Mini.

Was easy decision to return. I don’t watch much hdr content. Apple didn’t even talk hdr games or more hdr content at a software conference. Used my 2018 12.9 the last few days and don’t miss it. Bit lighter and thinner too.

I’d rather have the screen on a MacBook instead or an oled iPad Air that’s smaller than the 12.9 pro brick. And so i wait.

Other than being much faster, having double the RAM (model depending), having the XDR screen (12.9), having a 4/4 big/LITTLE architecture, 5G on the Cellular versions…

Yup - no features above a 2018 or 2020. None at all…

A12X/Z is 4/4 as well, just Vortex/Tempest instead of Firestorm/Icestorm.

But yeah, there are improvements. May not be worth it for someone who already has 2018/2020. Those on older hardware though, personally, the changes are enough to make the 2021 worth it over getting a discounted 2018/2020 Pro for me.

Exactly. For some, the new feature set is minimal, for others, it’s big enough to warrant an upgrade.

Choice is a wonderful thing…

Exactly!! Just like with and iPhone or a any other product!:)!
To be fair, iPhone updates always come after WWDC (at least since they moved them to Sept.). So iPhone users are never buying "early".

There will potentially be new iPhone features in iOS 15 that align with the new iPhones coming in September that will have new features shared alongside their announcement during the September launch. Giving you a full spectrum ahead of time.

That all said. No one should buy before they see the features they want in the product. You always leave yourself room for disappointment buying anything sight unseen.

I do hope Apple carves a more unique spot for iPadOS in the future though.
