From what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like a major update for the air pods.
Major updates is an additional touch functionality and improved active noise cancelling.

Anyone considering the upgrade?

I'm tempted to purchase if they have finally fixed the ongoing hardware issues that have required people to replacing changing them when they fail. That said, Bose have just launched the new QC2 earbuds which will likely have better sound.

Instabuy.

Better ANC, better battery life + handy volume control.

Couldn’t give a monkeys about lossless. The tangible difference in a likely not-ideal listening environment using tiny earbuds? Imperceptible, you’ll never convince me otherwise.

I wanted to upgrade but seems the tips are exactly the same (extra small is new but no extra large!).
I can barely cope with a dIY solution where I have added a foam tip under the silicon sleeve.

I really don't get why the Beats flex medium tip fits PERFECTLY in my ear and never fall off, even when I sleep with them, make perfect seal, sound isolation, yet my airpods pro are rubbish and fall off medium or large never stay in and make barely any seal. The foam tip solution is a particual solution but by no means perfect.

Funny enough my AirPod Pro Case stopped charging via cable over half a year ago (I could only charge them wireless) but since yesterday, I cannot connect the AirPods themselves anymore either. Maybe it is a sign? However, I just googled a little and apparently the Sony WF-1000XM4 are the best on the market? Now I dont know what to dooooo. They are also 100 Euro cheaper than the AirPod Pro 2

I will if reviews say that they work in public spaces. I don’t care about the other features I just wanna be able to speak with them on when I’m on the subway etc

yep - just seeing what I'd get for 1st gen ones and put the difference towards .... tbh tho the ANC is pretty good 1st gen so do wonder if it will be noticeably better

improved bat is also a plus

Yes, if only because the battery life on my current Pros isn't that great now. It was a decent upgrade - I will appreciate the better battery life, volume control, Find My for the case and better noise cancelling.

I will upgrade as I bought the original pros on launch day and they are just underperforming. I was ready to just get new pros because they are my most used, best headphone I have ever used but these will do that job for me. My right pro currently hums and is virtually unusable. So it's a good time for an upgrade, even a modest one.

My current APP are the most versatile buds I've used, and there are enough improvements to give the new ones a try. Decent sound, pretty good ANC, and integration into the Apple ecosystem are reasons enough not to go with another better sounding but clunkier solution.

You have cleaned them using wooden / plastic toothpick (to remove clothing parts and debris) or toothbrush with some iso alcohol ?

Is this a joke? Of course you can skip tracks with your AirPods

Sorry, I'm an idiot. For some reason I either never realized that or forgot it (double-click and triple-click). However, it IS incredible to me that it took them this long to add volume control. Shouldn't be such a thing as AirPods that can't do that.

I'm getting the AirPod Pro 2. Does anyone know what time they will go on sale tomorrow? I want to order them as soon as possible because I've got to send my original AirPod Pro back to be repaired, and I can't live without them.

I was just coming to post this very same thing and just saw the post was edited. I was surprised to read this take.

I had been using Siri to switch tracks because for some reason I guess I forgot about the double-click and triple-click. But it is sort of funny to me to read "of course you can skip tracks", when changing the volume is even MORE of a basic feature (IMO) and you couldn't do that (until now). Of course, I'm referring to doing these things without Siri.

Yes I also took them to the Apple Store. The lightning connector seems to be friend even though it looks perfectly fine and the led was also dead but I still could charge them wirelessly. Since yesterday they r completely dead but when I take it from the QR Charger, the case is warm so VERY STRANGE

Makes sense - volume wasn't an issue because I could do it with my watch, but I know that's not for everyone and I agree, it's a weird 'leave out' feature. Glad it's in this version.

5am Pacific Daylight time. +/- a few minutes always - and it's usually a +

Yes, I also use my Apple Watch for that, but I don’t like it either because the digital crown has a few clicks of buffer before it responds. It’s way too easy to under or over adjust the volume because of that. I’ve heard people say it’s that way so you don’t accidentally do it, but I don’t think that would be a very easy thing to accidentally do. And even if that were the case, they could just make it an option to have or not have that buffer in the settings. Oh, sorry, that would be giving users more options. Can’t have that 😂
