I found a screen protector adds weight and it isn't as great to carry around. I think if i'm going away to some sandy location I'll have it on for that but so far, after a month my screen's in good shape!

LOL. I guess few grams could be a deal breaker for some.

I know what it sounds like because it sounds like a ridiculously small amount but somehow it did make a difference to me! and its not just the air, it's always been like that for me on other phones too.

I only wear a screen protector because of the rivet above my jeans pocket. That's the only reason.
I always have scratches exactly where the rivet slides over the screen.
PROBLEMS!!!!!!

I'm currently using Mothca's matte glass but good grief it's thick. I ordered these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FNLRRD1K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title (couldn't find them by searching for iCarez iPhone 17 Air initially).

I like the feel and clarity of the Mothca but the edges have a rainbow effect to them that really stands out in certain situations so I'm probably going to replace it with an iCarez film protector (been using these for many years).

I was using an ultra thin case for a while, then decided to stop using it. It's a bit slippery without the case, but it looks and feels a lot nicer.

Debating whether or not I’d want to take my screen protector off. Looking at its profile, it looks like it adds roughly 20% to the depth.

Caseless and no screen protector here. Anything you put on the Air, even just a tempered glass screen shield, makes it noticeably heavier. And I'm just not about it.

I also don't want to negate the (already not all that impressive) anti-reflective coating by slapping a glossy piece of glass on it, or reduce screen quality with a matte/privacy one.

Applecare+ doesn't cover cosmetic damage and scratches... So it's not really a replacement for screen protector and cases like some people think

I think the biggest concern people address with screen protectors is breaking the glass when it’s dropped. AppleCare+ does take care of that.

Titanium frame seems pretty durable even with falls. Won’t stay perfect if dropped on hard surfaces but also wont dent the way aluminum does.

Comes down to your tolerance for wear and tear. A little bit adds character to the phone I think, as long as it doesn’t change the way the phone feels in the hand (like a rough spot where you normally hold it).

I use the Magic John screen protector on my Air and can't even tell it's there. Was very easy to install and no bubbles or any indication on the edges that it's even on.
Looks like it has curved edges too...my biggest gripe with most recent screen protectors I've used is the edges are sharp and I feel them every time I swipe up to unlock.

For the last several iPhone generations I’ve owned, if I’m using a screen protector (even a thin film one) - I have to use a case with a lower lip to prevent that sharp edge catching as I unlock. Yep.

No edges at all, very smooth. Best screen protector I have ever used. And it was the easiest to install.

Yes indeed, I’ve learned the combination of a screen protector and case works best for me.

I admire those who go without these protections and never drop their phone, but I’m not that lucky.

I've got a Spigen glass one on mine. I've been putting them on my phones for ages now, so I'm just used to having one. I can't really tell it's there, even when using it without a case.

The Mothca Matte Glass is crazy thick and heavy - but feels great and looks great. I have iCarez Matte film protectors coming in the mail today - I expect those to be significantly lighter.

I usually only buy a case for my phone, mainly because I’m worried about dropping it. As for screen protectors, unless it’s a privacy filter, I rarely bother with them.
Honestly, even if the screen gets a few scratches, it doesn’t really affect my usage. And after a while, a bit of wear and tear is totally normal. There’s no need to baby the phone so much all the way until it’s retired, while forgetting to enjoy the feel of the device itself.
Some people use their phones until they completely die, but the screen still looks brand-new — and then they throw it out and buy a new one. I kinda feel bad for the screen at that point. It never even got to show off its texture or character before being discarded along with the worn-out internals. Let it live its life and serve its purpose!

If I drop the phone I'd rather have the screen protector break instead of the screen…

I was going to rock it without a screen protector but applied one a few weeks ago. And I'm glad I did because last week I dropped the Air into concrete and the entire screen protector shattered. Wondering if it would've been my Air display had I not had a screen protector applied. So now I'm nervous to take the screen protector off as much as I would want to not use it.

Decisions...

While it's possible that the screen could have been damaged, it is also true that these screen protectors are much weaker than the actual screen.
