The heart rate sensor on any Garmin is bad. Same for sleep tracking. The problem is: All their stuff is based on those bad messurements.
Same for oxy measurements. I have 88% on my Garmin. In real I have 98%. My AppleWatch is accurate.

That's the point: Garmin = crap in : crap out
Exactly and the Garmin forums are full of these sort of SW problems. On this site, with Apple Watches not so much.

A dive computer for PADI amateurs, but no self-respecting diver would use an Apple Watch as a primary tool.
I'm not entirely sold on it's suitability as a dive computer, but please define a self-respecting diver? I dive occasionally, but I also dive with serious divers. Last trip I dove with a Navy diver. Guess what, he wore a computer in the same category as mine.

The Ultra is not aimed at the professional diver or the technical diver. But it is aimed at better than 80% of divers out there.

HealthFit 10 released recently (free update) with all new metrics from WatchOS9 included an critical power estimate. How much more advanced is this. Great. Garmin even has no native power support at all in their newest watches 😯

This has descended into just a Garmin-bashing thread now. The Ultra hasn’t even being reviewed yet, never mind in the hands of actual customers. We have no idea whether it’s good, better or worse than anything else out there yet.

Watch OS 9 is part of the new watch too. Therefore even the older Apple Watches are in a great shape to be "pro". You are right. The Apple Watch Ultra can only be better because it has much more features than the older ones.

DC Rainmaker does a hands-on review of the Ultra. It's an initial review. He will do an in-depth review in the future. Ray gave the Ultra positive comments. Regarding Garmin, while it has or had software issues, some of the comments, especially about the HR sensor are not consistent with my experience and I think are over-the-top.

I respect Ray's reviews, but so far he's only handled it at the Apple Event (both he and DesFit were there in Cupertino). They will obviously both be putting it through it's paces, but there's likely still a review embargo.

Ray is a Garmin guy. I hope that’s clear to everyone (even when looking for his reviews about other watches)
Ray has written many positive articles about Apple and other brands besides Garmin. Perhaps you missed the link a few posts above where Ray took Garmin to task in 2019 about SW issues. So I think your point is totally without substance.

He is financed by them plus he needs to keep his reviews positive to keep getting access to all their products.
It is blatenly obvious, when you poke through the impressive metrics and tests, they are all really artificial and only of a very limited usage.

As soon as you start using the product alot (Garmin) you run into issues that could not be missed by him, my Explore 2 for example has tons of issues and needed the two firmware upgrades to be a bit more reliant.

He is a hype reviewer, just for fun to see the new stuff first but once you poke through the impressive presentation you see, it does not hold up.

He is very active though and even reacts quite a bit on comments, so no hate there.

I work for Garmin financial department via google, we take care of payroll and other expenses such as reimbursements and external payments marketing related etc.

Payment depends on several factors that varies per product, we only execute approved payments though, as they get dictated by another team.

Can`t share personal nor financial related information.

If this is true, I would venture a guess that you are violating the terms of your employment by posting about a specific person.

It's the largest and brightest screen and most durable Apple Watch. It's the best Apple Watch they offer. And it's going to appeal to many who don't do a single extreme thing.

But for cycling, running, hiking and swimming nothing really changed at all.
No GPS maps/trails for hikers, nothing special for cyclists and regular swimming.
This bit really is it in a nutshell for me, how can apple not have this already? I've ordered an AW Ultra and as a hiker/mountain biker this would be one of my most wanted features. Yes I have map apps but they eat battery like nobodies business and aren't integrated like Apple can do when they put their minds to it.

This is why Apple is a trillion dollar company. They can design a product most people don't need and it becomes a must have item.

I wonder why that is? I think some of it is because they've always been headquartered in California. Would Apple have been as popular throughout the years if they were based out of Indiana?
