Your point is valid. The powers-that-be in control of the major media outlets decide what stories will receive the highest degree of coverage. The tragedy of Trisha Meili - the Central Park jogger - is an example of that.

I think there was some weird stuff going on in that house. It definitely was NOT John Mark Karr; he's just a pedophile nutcase who's been obsesssed with JonBenet for a decade. But then again, I wouldn't be surprised if Karr worked-out some sort of a deal with the Ramsey's to plead guilty. How has Karr afforded to travel all around the world for the past decade, living in hotels but working only low-paying jobs here and there? And now -- almost exactly ten years after the crime -- on the eve of John Ramsey's own book being published -- this nut conveniently comes forward and says he did it??? Oh c'mon... that fails the stink test big time. I think the Ramsey's were involved in the murder, Patsy wrote that bizarre ransom note, they somehow found Karr under a rock somewhere and gave him enough $$$ to live his sick dream life for a decade, on the understanding that he'd then cop to doing it. By then John's book would be ready and it would all fall nicely into place.

So youthink that if a black woman in SE DC woke up on Christmas morning and found her 6 year olde strangled with a paint stick that no one would notice?

Do you have specific cases as examples?

Do you ever watch court tv,, or the news for that matter? You would think that only rich white women were being kidnapped.

I agree with MUCKYFINGERS. When a crime involves famous, good-looking, and/or well-to-do people, it's more newsworthy -- although "worthy" isn't always an applicable word.

"It doesn't matter if you're black or white...."

...... I still don't give a **** about this case.

Can we add the option "Who cares? There are more pressing issues in the world than a decade-old murder case."? That one gets my vote.

Ditto. I fail to see why the murder of a non-public figure is national news. Local news, yes; devastating for family and friends, absolutely. But why does everyone else out there care? Because she's cute? I think it's obscene.

Yes. I know several people who've been duped by the media into thinking that kids are being snatched off the street and killed every minute of every day.

I dont think Karr killed her, I just think hes fracking bonkers.

I think Natalee Halloway died of a drug overdose. From what I've read, she was doing a lot of drugs and a ton of drinking before she vanished.

The DA already had dna samples from Karr before he came back to the U.S. I really don't think they would have brought him over if they didn't think he did it. Todays news was that the letters he sent people and hair samples were used. I just hope that the idiots didn't ruin the crime scene DNA. It would then be like the OJ case that had many mistakes at the crime scene. I think the Boulder police are morons. Everyone knows that you can't have 100 people running through a crime scene. They get so excited they start touching everything and pouncing all over the place. Why did the original police at the scene let the father and mother look through the house. remember the father picked up the body. I just hope if Karr did do it then they have the goods to nail him.
My idea is that somebody from the big party(100 people) that the ramseys had a few days earlier hid in the house and then made it look like he came in through the window and faked a ransom. He found a pay stub or letter that had Johns bonus of $118,000 listed.
Karr has admitted that he hid in the house and found a stub when the Ramseys were gone. also the ransom note had 4 letters that spelled out 4 words listed in Karrs yearbook. Shall be the conqueror. S.B.T.C.

The combination of a well-respected family and cops not used to dealing with major homicides, I assume. But it seems likely that that's why we may never know the truth about what happened.

i second that. shes dead, life's ruff. she only receive all this attention because she was a "beauty queen". Im sorry but i find little kids dressed up like grownups completely disgusting.

I think Karr's confession is full of weird holes and questions. I still think that one of the family members did it or they have her blood on their hands. I was aiming for the brother, but I do not think any of them actually touched her, they just paid for it to happen.

Who really cares? Outside of her family and friends that is.

There's a lot more important things out there.

Unquestionably true. However, as crime stories go, this one generated substantial interest that easily extended well beyond the limited circle of family and friends, and it is a desire of authorities and the general public to see both closure and some type of commensurate justice coming the way of the long sought after perpetrator.

I guess I was wrong. At least this wacko is off the streets now. What a waste of tax payers dollars.
