I love my widgets (or is it called Today? screen). Flipping to the left page gives me all the relevant information I want. I like to keep a check on batteries, Dark Sky, Google Keep, Sundial, calendar, Barometer, Accuweather, The Guardian, News, activity, reminders etc.

To me, it's like having all the benefits of an android device with widgets but neatly tucked away in a corner on my iPhone. I don't religiously check this screen but it's very functional, I find

I find the widget page very useful too. I don't have everything on it, but mine includes AccuWeather, Up Next, ESPN, Batteries, Stocard, and Stocks.

Yes, just a few is neat - one could easily go overboard. I think this is one of the features of iOs that is often overlooked.

Use it all the time. Battery levels, Agenda, Calendar and Siri suggestions. Just about keeps in on one page.

I loved the widgets on my iPhone 6 but with Face ID and it's home screen launch speed I don't use them much anymore on my iPhone X.

I also have background app refresh set to off to maximize battery life and so whenever I access widgets it takes a few seconds for them to update which is annoying.

That said, the Favorites Launcher app is terrific with only a swipe and one tap to get to my six most important contacts and the various ways to contact them (call, text, email, FaceTime). I still use that occasionally.

With the iPhone X, I mostly use the favorites launcher. It is more seamless versus the widget page, in my opinion. My homepage is blank. I have to swipe right to see my apps page.

I love em, just wish they'd update... Weather never updates, Sports never updates and my package tracker never updates. They'll update after I open the app but that's rather pointless..

And that is the reason I stopped (for the most part) loading new widgets. Not really helping me if I have to go through 2 more steps to see what the widget was supposed to show me.

I like the concept but it still needs some work.
This makes me wonder what is going on.

Widgets were first introduced into the NC with iOS 6. Apple removed them entirely with iOS 7, but reintroduced them back into the NC with iOS 8. Now they seem to be on a separate Widget screen (iOS 10/11).

But it's not working?

What happened? It was fine in iOS 6, 8 and 9 and seems to be working okay on my iPhone 5 (iOS 10.3.1).

Momentary thing maybe? Or is Apple finally moving towards getting rid of widgets? Again.

Just guessing here...

If the problem was limited to just a few apps not updating in the widget, I would look to the developer and ask what is going on. From what I have read, many people using many different apps are having the same kind of problem. That leads me to look to Apple. I think they have been biding time as I believe they have been working on the new release before the X was released, and couldn't get it to where they wanted it at that time.

In that light, I think what we will see in the next OS release, which I think will be major, will be an OS refinement of the widget process and how it relates to third-party apps. The process may look the same on the surface but will be completely different under the software hood. The widget feature is a big user draw and I don't see Apple getting rid of it.

As we have both seen over the years, Apple has a bad habit of coming up with great ideas and often taking a long time to refine them for much better user success. I think that that is being played out with the widget feature.

My widgets work fine.

My widgets also seem to update just fine. Only using five ATM but all is well. Weather channel, google calendar, battery and a couple of news wids.

I keep about 11 widgets that I utilize frequently.

If you aren’t using the widgets page you’re definitely not getting the most possible out of iOS.

Its a solid feature.
