Sadly, I think this is how Apple breaks the launch line ques, despite what Ahrendt's said. I liked the ques because we talked to a wide mix of Apple enthusiasts. Since MacWorld died this is a thing of the past.
My first hiccup was with the iPhone 5. I ordered home delivery only to have UPS deliver at 8:30 pm. I was at the store at launch and they had enough stock until 10:00 am central.
My bad on this order. The choice was store or delivery when my cart was set to pay at 2:02 cdt. Idiot me, I spent 6 minutes trying to get store to work until I gave up and paid for home delivery. That six minutes cost me to wait for the May 13-27 wave.
I will never make that mistake again.
And I thought the lines were good for Apple. High dollar customers patiently waiting. Lots of earned (free) media. I've used Apple products since the Apple II+.
