Hello all:
I was interested to see just how many people commented on my other threads saying that they were getting/got the 5s over the 6. So I thought I'd start a poll to see just how many people still prefer the 5s over the 6.

So post here if you got the 5S and prefer it over the 6!

Did you choose the 5s over 6? And why?

You're making an awful lot of fuss on this topic. Trying to justify getting the 5s instead of the 6?

nope, already bought the 5s and am stoked to get it for my bday. I really prefer the form factor over the 6, and like hearing from others who feel the same way:D.

Despite enjoying every new iPhone model since the original, I didn't find the miniscule display size increase from my 4S to my iPhone 5 worth much.

Yet I wasn't surprised since Jobs ego was on the line. Giving us something larger would have been admitting Apple has intelligent customers, something that Steve was uncomfortable with. His Corp. Line that was repeated over and over ad nauseum by a segment of passive low esteem customers that agreed with Steve: "Apple knows what is best for us, long before we do."

After holding out for years, finally we have a choice of two with modern displays of appropriate size.

I just about gave up on iPhones, but the moment it became certain that Apple woke up and was building a larger phone I dumped my 5S. Nearly too late, if not for being Fat and Happy, Apple could have made even more money had they offered these iPhones two years ago.

I've got some stellar new Android flagship phones. Finally I have an equally nice iPhone 6 Plus... :)

This poll invites skewed results. Choosing not to upgrade from a 5s, possibly because you're still in a contract, or simply because it's still sufficient to suit your needs, is not the same thing as choosing the 5s over the 6.

Can't see how one would prefer the 5S. The 6 is superior in absolutely every way from battery life, to screen size, to performance.

Hmm. Superior battery life for sure. Screen? That all depends if you want a bigger screen or not. If a bigger screen was essential, then everybody would have bought an Android phone after the iPhone 4/4S. Performance? Meh, it's a negligible improvement over the 5S. This time around, Apple were selling the big screen. Everything else is barely noticeable, aside from NFC (if anyone really cares about that other than the Apple nerds).

"Superior" doesn't necessarily mean "essential". I recently got a 6. Was a larger screen "essential" for me? No. Is it better? Yes.

Doesn't have to be essential to be better. Even the iPhone 4S runs iOS 8 so that's the bare minimum for what's "essential". Also wanting a bigger screen doesn't equate to going to a totally different OS. The majority of iOS users who wanted larger screens also wanted iOS so an Android wasn't an option. It wasn't worth the trade off.

So yes the 6 is better in every way. Really no way to argue around that point.

Plenty of ways. Many people don't want a larger screen. The performance increases are extremely minimal. The camera update is extremely minimal. The design is actually less appealing too, IMO. So yeah, if you want an iPhone with a bigger screen then it's an essential upgrade but anyone who is perfectly happy with their 5S can save some cash and have a pretty much equal performing phone.
The RAM is the clincher for me really. The iPhone 6 has the same RAM as the iPhone 5 and is no faster in real world use than a 5S. I'll wait until Apple are selling a real upgrade and not just a bigger screen (and NFC which I won't use anyway).

Agreed. Now, if I had to choose between the two, I would get the 6. Looks much better in my opinion.

So basically you just agreed with me by saying the performance is better, the camera is better, it has NFC, the screen is bigger. The only think that's subjective is which design one likes better.

You seem to be confused into thinking I said the 6 was some massive essential upgrade over the 5S. That's not the case. The 5S is still an excellent phone and certainly powerful enough to be used today, the 6 is just better. I stated it was a better phone in every measurable way which is a fact, design being the only subjective and non-measurable factor. So no need to keep going in circles restating what I said in my original post.

"Better in every way" sounds a hell of a lot more resounding than 'slightly better'. Other than benchmarks, nobody can really tell the difference between the 5S and i6 when it comes to performance.
So unless you really have to have the bigger screen right now, I would advise waiting to see if the 6S brings more RAM and a real camera upgrade. If more RAM is needed right now then buy into Android. I wouldn't drop money into an i6 unless I desperately wanted a bigger screen and just had to stay with Apple.

I have just bought a 5s purely because of the size. The phone I use for work is a 6 and it's just too big.

??? Who prefers the 5S over the 6 ???

I got two 6's. One massively overheated and had black lines running across the screen. Second one was a beautiful blue screen of death upon opening and starting up. The 6 has a beautiful looking screen, okay looking back, and a way too thin frame. That's just my opinion of course. My favorite model was the 5c, it was my first iPhone.

I do like the 5s more than the 6 right now but I'll be revisiting this when the 6s shows up. I choose to buy a 5s last month after trying a 6. Then I decided to stay with the 5s after trying my second 6... =)

Check some of the OP's other threads. He does this all the time (seeking reassurance to justify his purchase decision). Very insecure apparently.

What's wrong with discussing why I like a certain product with others who feel the same?
