How many of you guys have purchased the iPad pro just because it is the newest iPad and have to have the latest toy from Apple.

I'm sure there must be quite a few people who aren't bothered about the pencil or using the iPad for professional work and just like to know they have the newest model or just want an iPad with a massive screen.

I haven't purchased it yet, still debating if I want to just wait for a long time until a new one potentially comes out with a few more qualities that I would prefer (yes, I know this will take a bit given the cycles, I'm no dummy) - But when I get one I will be purchasing it because; 1) I like new toys 2) I always wanted a bigger screen for when I was using my Air 2, websites functionality didn't live up to my liking being small 3) I do not always want to bring my laptop around with me to meetings, Starbucks, the basement if I want to simply browse, e-mail, view media.

I understand where you are coming from, but do believe that for everyone purchasing one there will need to be at least some other reason in terms of daily use and functionality that this will prove valuable. Unless you really just want to buy new stuff for no real reason, then more power to you.

I suck at drawing and i have a mbp for real work. I bought the ipp because my iPad mini 1 was getting slow and I figured why not. Got some apple financing with 18 months no interest and ordered a ipp and pencil. It's my Reddit/Netflix/internet machine and that's it. I plan on jailbreaking it and having some real fun with it. I haven't had a jailbroken device since the 4s so I'm excited to see what I can do with it.

tldr: I bought the ipp for fun

I bought mine because I rarely use my MBP anymore for daily use. I always surf and email on my Air 2. Bigger screen, RAM and speed were why I bought it. I also have a surface pro 3 i7 - rarely use it but for work it's good to have a variety of platforms. Both iPads have LTE, when I travel I don't like worrying about connectivity.

I purchased the iPad pro as a gift for my partner but I knew he wouldn't use the pencil and it would mainly be used for video editing his GoPro footage and general web browsing and watching videos.

I must admit after having a go on the iPad pro it is nice to be able to see more of a web page over what I see on my iPad Air 2.

Well tbh I was waiting all summer for the air 3. So when I found out that wasn't coming I was a little disappointed. Then I saw the pro and it ticked my boxes. I have a top spec desktop custom pc but I wanted a device for watching movies in bed streaming/Netflix and general browsing. I also wanted something light and portable and the good thing with the iPad pro is I can just pick it up and move it round the house and it's perfect for that even more so where it's an always on device. I wouldn't call this a pro device though if I was doing professional tasks I'd of definitely went for the MacBook Pro but I have my main pc to cover any of that so this is the perfect companion device for me. The ultimate media consumption device I shall call it. The bigger screen is great I like having split screen going with with a YouTube video and guitar tab on the other side so I can jam along too and it's all nicely sized. Plus the speakers are very impressive. I find myself reading a lot more news and flipboard is great on this all things I would not of done on say a MacBook Pro. I guess it's one of those things you need to try out for yourself to see how well it fits into your life and if it's justifiable or not. Oh yeh I also love the on screen keyboard which is effortlessly easy to touch type on.

One happy iPad pro customer. I did get the 32gb model which I will be taking back for the 120gb model though.

I wanted the bigger screen and faster cpu. I don't care about the pen, although its a cool accessory (I have one BTW).

The Pro is probably going to get a lot of use. I think it could be way better app wise. The OS just looks exactly like the other ones (iOS, that is)

My iPad2 was starting to get very slow on some apps and stuttered on streaming video. When I got my iPhone 6 plus I stopped using my iPad2. I realized the large iPhone screen was really all I needed to have with me while away from the house.

So I got the iPad Pro for its larger display and faster cpu mainly to watch videos and use with my photography and art hobby while I am at home. Very happy with it !

My iPad 3 was just too slow especially when using note apps

So yep decided on the pro. Big screen (why not :)). And the pencil really got me.

Use the iPad all the time at work and the Pro is great! No regrets so far!

I mean I primarily bought one for the Pencil, but I think it's a totally legitimate device on its own too. The iPad as a product is compelling regardless of its size and this model provides a ton of advantages that the others lack, while sacrificing a bit of portability (but come on, it's still super light and not nearly as big as a laptop). When Apple first announced the iPad it was mocked as a big iPhone but I immediately recognized the potential and appeal of an iPhone-like device with a large format touch screen. I think much of that potential has been realized in the years subsequent, and simply having a larger screen, better speakers, more power, etc. to view and drive more content is a great thing. Especially with the new features in iOS 9 and sure to come in 10. If you like the iPad, it's the ultimate iPad.

Frankly, I don't know why it has had to justify its existence so much and been met with such cynicism.

In part I purchased the iPad Pro because it's the latest and greatest iPad. I have been looking to upgrade my iPad mini 2 since the 6+. First I waited for the next real spec bump of the mini. Then I realized that a larger screen was important. I am hoping the IPP can become a real business productivity tool than media consumption. As a tech consultant, the pencil seems like it would be nice to sketch ideas during meetings.

I purchased the iPad Pro because of three main reasons.
a) I was due for an upgrade from my original iPad with Retina.
b) The price difference for 128 GB between the Air 2 is really not that much.

The screen size was a bit worrisome. However, that has since grown on me.

reasons for me to get iPad pro:
1) i love to draw
2)own a surface pro to take notes, which is a terrible experience
3) dad wants my iPad air
4) tons of old devices i can trade in

i also have a 15 rMBP, which works perfectly with each other.

Mostly i'm trying to consolidate my toys. I have/had:
- ipad mini retina for reading/comics/knocking around
- ipad air for essentially a portable tv/browser/comics and magazine reader
- macbook air for writing, light photoshop, excel and media management (itunes, plex, etc)
- mac pro for video editing/excel/etc
- iphone 6

Im selling my 2 ipads, iphone 6 and macbook air and getting a 6s and an ipad pro. My mac pro can pick up the media management, the ipp can pick up both the ipads jobs and most of the airs and add some new features/fun, and the 6s can handle the phone and some of the minis stuff

My only real app that i havent found an ipad quality version for is vdmx on the macbook air, vjay is fine but not quite there.
