folks, just trying to understand the story of Xs vs Xs Max. Who of you have regretted purchasing Plus before and honestly regretted later? What are the reasons and your experience?
This time around there is no additional feature that the bigger phone has, so size is the only reason.
Also, those who did not regret do not write:) trying to understand what did not work for those who tried.

I had a 6s Plus for a year and then went to the regular 7. Now I’m upgrading to the regular Xs. I have no interest in a Plus/Max size phone. I realized when I went to my 7 how much I missed the more compact, portable size. I’m a pretty active person, and I often take my phone with me on runs, hikes, gym trips, etc. Was I able to do those things with the Plus size? Yes, but the weight/size was just so unwieldy. The Xs is a little bigger than the 7, and I’m ok with that, but I don’t want anything bigger than that for my phone. When I want a bigger screen for something, I reach for my iPad.

Since the 6th-gen iPhone, I've always had the Plus model for both the size and camera upgrades. When the X came out, I wanted the better camera and Face ID. Ordered an XS Max because the screen is much bigger (bigger than even the 8 Plus) without being any bigger than the Plus model. So basically upgrading for the extra battery life and the screen size.

Thank you. I do not think you read my post:)

how I feel too. but yes me and you haven't regretted it. I regretted keeping the X with its thinner screen but I liked the size of it. I didnt mind the larger frame + models and want it back now.

xs max will have the same screen ratio, so it will be “thinner” still, just bigger and thinner

Never regretted it. I had a 6 plus and a 7 plus and they were my favorite phones i ever owned. The only iPhones I have ever regretted owning were th iPhone 4 and the iPhone X.

still will feel like more width to me than an X

why regret for the 4 and x?

I had the problems with the 4 with “antenna-gate” so I dropped calls like crazy. I actually returned it and went back down to my 3GS.

I regret my X because I hate the form factor. The phone is too small. They sold us all a bill of goods last year when they said the X had a larger screen then the Plus phones. Yes it “technically” does, but when you are doing things like watching videos and what not the usable space is similar to a non plus phone. The aspect ratio is horrendous IMO.

You can’t get the bigger keyboards like the plus phones had, and put the phone in landscape mode for certain things, etc. I just really really dislike it. Can’t wait to get the XR next month and save money, while getting a larger screen and the best battery life in an iPhone.

After having my 6+ for two years, I was getting really tired of how difficult it was to handle one-handed. The width of the device and the bezels got very fatiguing. So I upgraded to the regular iPhone 7. Loved it at first, then a few months later, started desperately missing a larger display and battery. Ended up selling my 7 and buying a used 7+. Wanted an even bigger display and a change from iOS, so then I switched to the Galaxy S9+, which has a 6.2" display compared to the 7+'s 5.5" display. Now I have a XS Max with a 6.5" display pre-ordered. The ergonomics don't bother me as much anymore, especially with bezels being reduced, and I love having more screen real estate and battery. I'm sticking with the plus sizes for a while.

Morning after preorder night. I’m still drinking my coffee. I’m not even sure of my name. Between my husband and I being so groggy he ordered me an iPhone I had no intention of even looking at, let alone purchase. It’s the AT&T version of an XS Max for delivery in October. Freaking October.

I wanted an unlocked XS for pickup at my local store. Now I’m thinking of keeping the Max order. I’m actually in no rush and a Max could work out. I had cases and tempered glass protectors for the little XS though.

I’m interested in this thread because I am torn now between the two sizes myself. I’m curious like you are. lol, but I don’t think many people are going to answer the question you actually asked. Not enough coffee or sleep going around on the forum day after preorder night. Many people were up ordering the new watches.

I got the first Plus on launch day. Had it for a few weeks and lo and behold, it bent. There was a bit of regret from the time I realized it bent until the time I was in the Apple Store and they handed me a new one. So maybe a 1/2 day...? I did treat that replacement with kid gloves and the next year went back to the standard size. I've been getting the largest version since though and ordered a Max this morning.

I have a love hate with plus size devices. I usually always end up going back to a smaller device once the newness has worn off!

What story? It’s just 2 different damn sizes.

I have never regretted getting a plus size phone. My first iPhone was a 6s plus and I’ve had every plus size release since then.
I know I’d regret getting the smaller phones.

Had a 7 Plus and although I've never really regretted it, it was a bit unwieldy at times. Was very happy when the X came along and provided more screen in a smaller housing.

Always ordered the Plus before the x. The x seems too small for me...
It 100% is. We were sold a bill of goods last year when they claimed it had a bigger screen than the plus phones. Yes, it technically has a larger screen area, but the aspect ration is doody butts. It makes the “useable” space much smaller. I cannot wait until I can get rid of this thing.

Ive had plus sized iPhones for 4 years now but just ordered a regular Xs as I think I’d prefer a slightly smaller phone to carry about all day. My jeans pockets will thank me (I always use a case so adds extra bulk)

Twice I tried to like the plus size phone and could not deal with them. I had a 6 Plus and ended up going back to the regular 6. I then tried it again with the 8 Plus and ended up getting the X. If I were to upgrade I would not get the Max as I don't care for the overall size of the larger phone. They don't fit in your pocket good and I like to have my phone in my pocket when working out or playing golf. I also have to put it in my cup holder when in the car. It's just a clumsy experience to me. I have to think about my phone too much. With the X it's just more portable and disappears when I need it to. With no downgrade in features I would not even consider the Max. Plus I don't watch much video or play games on my phone.
