Was anyone else all set to order an X but now will pre-order an 8/8 Plus this Friday for whatever reason? Maybe you don't want to wait a couple months or you just are no longer feeling the X?

*Disclaimer - I will likely buy both because I cannot help myself and have no self control.

I was super pumped for the X and then after the keynote was over and the hype died down I sat and really compared the 2 phones and decided the 8 Plus is the better buy for me.

The X has an OLED screen and ok I give them that but for someone like myself who has the Note 8 and S8, I'm already use to a nice screen and slim bezels. Apple has folks going crazy because it's something new for them where I been on 2k screens.

If it was a performance bump then ok I could see it. You're gonna need more than animated emojis and portrait selfies to get me. I'm good.

I agree with the above poster. I really was hyped up for the X and definitely set to buy it, until the keynote. I think that the X still looks nice and everything but it just doesn't have enough to convince me to pay the premium for it. I'll get the 8+ and wait until next year. Hopefully all the kinks will be worked out by then.

I say I'm getting both and probably still will but as of right now I'm leaning towards just getting an 8 Plus. I don't have an iPhone now but if I did have a 7 Plus I'd probably skip the 8. I'm really torn on if the notch is going to bother me horribly or not. Little things like that tend to bother the heck out of me.

Yeah me too, not stoked on the thinner screen/notch/less battery and no TouchID.

Will get the plus X next year, until then the 8+ is a well matured iPhone that still destroys all competition.

Quite the opposite, I was set on getting an 8 but the unnecessary price bump on storage over 64gb put paid to that. I want a phone with 128gb ideally and was willing to pay the same £819 as the 7+ cost, absolutely not paying £950, even with 256gb, an arguably nicer design and wireless charging thrown in. Probably getting a 7 now, though have considered the X as the 8 made it seem reasonably priced for a moment!

Was going to go for the X, as my 6S+ battery is getting pretty tired.

I just don't like the look of the X with the curved corners of the screen, the "notch" and the fact that it is nothing like edge-to-edge. I don't like all the gestures replacing the home button either. And of course there is the price.

But hey the 8 will still be a nice upgrade for me.

I was also pretty pumped about the X before the keynote. However, after reviewing the specs between the 8+ and the X, I'd rather stick with a proven technology for another year, so it's looking like the 8+ for me. I'm also having trouble wrapping my head around spending close to $1,500 (with tax and Apple Care) on a first-gen device.

The real kicker was when my 14 year-old daughter said,"It looks like a Samsung." I think she's right. Even though it's a beautiful piece of tech, the look of the X kind of blends in with what else is already out there.

I'll probably go with the next iteration of the X in 2018.

This is actually a good question. How many either got turned from price or from having to wait longer?

After posters' comments, it appears, based on their comments, that x is a short term hype. But the spec is nice but it doesn't cut it with lot of you guys.

For me, it was the accumulation of "cons" vs "pros". Price, forced to use Face Id, lack of middle 128GB, and the wait...all outweighed the pros of this new device. I think Apple jammed themselves up with not being able to get Touch Id to work under OLED. If the options were to use Face Id OR Touch Id, my decision would be more difficult. But being forced into Face Id has me sitting on the bench and going with an 8.

Is face id really forced?

I think one other major thing making me want the 8 Plus right now is less stress ordering it lol I know this sounds trivial but the thought of trying order the X vs 8 Plus is panic inducing.
We don't know that...lol maybe more people are like you and would turn to 8 or plus.

Price. Almost $1500 for 256GB, AppleCare, tax
Hope iFixit does estimated cost to build.

Notch

Feel Apple held design back and now want us come running with our money.
