If you did upgrade. What model did you upgrade to from the XR.

Questions if you did:

1. Do you find the new model easier to hold and handle. With 1 hand or do you still need to use both hands?

2. Those who went to the 12 pro do you find the 12 pro a lot lighter or noticeably lighter than the XR?

3. Is the height of the 12 or 12 pro noticeably smaller than the XR?

if possible can you also upload side my side photos from the front showing XR next to the 12 pro/12.

thanks in advance

Take my answers with a grain of salt because I've had my 12 pro for like an hour...

1. Do you find the new model easier to hold and handle. With 1 hand or do you still need to use both hands?
yeah, slightly easier. I can do one hand with thumb scrolling on both, but still may not be able to reach the far side/corners 1-handed. If anything it's a hair easier, not worse.

2. Those who went to the 12 pro do you find the 12 pro a lot lighter or noticeably lighter than the XR?
I think they feel about the same

3. Is the height of the 12 or 12 pro noticeably smaller than the XR?
With a case, my XR seems slightly taller than my 12 pro with a case, but the top of the screen seems about level, if that makes sense. They have different cases, but both fairly slim profile silicone, but the rounded edges may have a factor for making the XR a hair taller

Overall I love the form factor of the 12 pro - feels just a smidge smaller and easy to handle but without giving up screen real estate.

Upgrading from a (PRODUCT)Red iPhone XR to a Blue iPhone 12. Love the red of the XR but the shade of red used for the 12 seems a lot paler and more peachy. Glad I made the choice. To answer your questions,

1. Do you find the new model easier to hold and handle. With 1 hand or do you still need to use both hands?

I alternate between one and two handed for the XR, I don't see that changing on the 12 because they are basically the same size. Naked I find the 12 much easier to grip (product of the flat sides) but I use a clear case on my phones and while the one I used on my XR made it easier to hold, the Apple Clear Case is much more slippy and if anything is actually more slippy than the naked phone. Time will tell how I get on with that.

2. Those who went to the 12 pro do you find the 12 pro a lot lighter or noticeably lighter than the XR?

N/A

3. Is the height of the 12 or 12 pro noticeably smaller than the XR?

Nope, just millimetres in it. Attempt at a comparison photo attached.

Let me know if you want any more comparison comments etc.

I got the Blue iPhone 12 today and I would be upgrading from the iPhone XR. After trying out the new camera, comparing screens and overall feel, I am going to stick with my iPhone XR.

Not enough of a reason to upgrade after all for me. The OLED screen doesn't seem all that different from the XR in my eyes. I can see the resolution difference when I look at the screens real closely but that isn't enough to justify spending as much money as I did on this phone. I thought the blocky design of the phone would really change things for me but it didn't.

I might be the odd one out but it turns out I am satisfied with my XR after all. Going to send the 12 back to Apple for a refund.

Thank you so much for the reply Rogetta. I am still trying to decide which one to go for. I guess I am going to try and get to an Apple store this weekend and have a look.

Thank you Alec and the reply’s . The photos are good too. Looking at the photos I can see the slight small differences.

Ah at least you tried it. To be fair my XR is in a really good condition but I just want a change lol.

1. I find the new models much easier to hold. I can’t use the phone with one hand in most cases other than scrolling and reading, but coming from the XR, I was doing the same thing, so it was nothing new.

2. I do find the 12 pro a bit heavier, but I think that is attributed to the shape and that everything is in a slightly reduced space. Though, I don’t mind the difference.

3. The height is slightly smaller than the XR.

I cannot provide any pictures as I traded my XR in.

Thanks guys. With my xr I always feel it’s a bit slipper on the back. Is that the same with the 12?

I went from XR to 12 and can already tell it feels lighter in my pocket. On paper the weight difference seems minor, but it's real. I do like the squared edges, XR always felt a little wonky to me. This is more secure.

Quick update. I am loving the 12 in every way except the change in screen content/size (see forum post Scaling iPhone 12 vs other models). There has been a change in how elements are rendered which means elements on the screen are larger on the iPhone 12 than they were on the iPhone XR. It's only a slight change, but every now and again I notice it and it's a little jarring. I've noticed it in a couple of interfaces where things just didn't look quite right (after being used to the XR for so long) but it's easier to demonstrate in simple Safari page renderings. Examples attached.
