Who uses an older iPhone? (Pre iPhone 5)

My cousin has an iPhone 4. Just wow at how small the 3.5" screen looks now a days. Lol.
For me, the 5s wasn't big enough to make much difference. I actually thought about going to another brand, but when my contract was up, I decided to wait it out another year since I like the ecosystem that works with Airplay and Macs.

I am glad Apple has decided to go with bigger screens. It will change the way I use my iPhone.

Still using my 4 but it looks like it's going to be time for a change soon since it won't play nice with iOS 8. Probably just to the 5s.

right now i have an iPhone 5S it is really great, but my first ios device is iPhone 4S, i had an awesome experience with my old iPhone 4s. it is one of the best device i have ever used. i just love it.

My first iphone is a 4 then i upgraded to 5c, find it not very durable so i sell it.

Now using 4s, quite happy because i like not having to worry about my phone all the time. This thing is rugged, i dropped it in the toilet, in a taxi, still work very good. I didn't have any case or screen protector on. I admit i kinda want the 5s space grey. It looks great and its light. 4s might be heavier but because its both side thick glass and metal sides prevent scratches.

My parents use iPhone 4. They are happy with iOS 7.1.2, and 4 fits great with their needs.

Sold the 4S y'day and now currently using my old 3GS.

I couldn't even use a iTunes back up because it's not compatible with iOS 6. The phone is so sluggish, but I guess it'll feel like a huge leap when the iPhone 6 arrives.

My boss is still using an iPhone 4S and I think one of the ladies at the office is either using a 3GS or a 4. Everyone else is either on a 5 or a 5c. A couple of people are on Android, but most of the people in my office are iOS users.

iPhone 4S here but as the Wi-Fi has just failed after taking the 7.1.2 upgrade I may load IOS 8 and see if it fixes the problem before I decide what I will replace it with.

Oh, yes it was well out of warranty when it failed. :-(

I just gave my mom an old 3GS my son had been using as an alarm clock. When setting it up I was surprised how well it still ran. It was slow but not as slow as I expected it to be. Only bad thing is... I mainly wanted to give it to her so she'd have access to Facebook (she has no other access to the internet) and the Facebook app won't run on an OS that low so she has to use the web version which kind of sucks on that small screen.

Once the 6 comes out I may see about upgrading her to the 4 or 4S at some point. I suppose I could give her my 5 but I'll probably resell it.

There is a way to get an older version of FaceBook to run on it. You need to go download the app with her Apple ID on another device, or in iTunes which is the easiest way. Go to iTunes, sign in with her Apple ID, download FaceBook. Then go to the App Store on the 3Gs, then the purchased tab, and you should see FaceBook. It will then allow you do download an older version that is compatible with iOS 6, or 5, or 4, whatever it's running.

Worked for me on an old iPod touch.

Ah! I will try that, thank you!!!

Enjoy your ability to do that while it lasts. AT&T is shutting down EDGE soon. :(

Though you'll continue to be able to do it on T-Mobile for a while longer.

The Edge speeds are useless anyway. If Edge disappears will I still be able to text and call?

I still use a 32GB 4S that I bought new in October 2011. I'm interested in upgrading to the 6, but since I went the prepaid route last November (Page Plus), I would have to buy at full retail.

The price of the iPhone 6, however, may make me seriously consider a more budget-friendly Android phone, perhaps the new Moto X (whenever it is offered at a discount--perhaps Black Friday).

My wife still uses a 16gb 4s. Still works great, but getting a bit clunky since iOS 7. She'll get my 5s when the 6 comes out.

Started with a 16gig 3GS new. Skipped the 4, got a used one (32gig) a year later. A year later, gave to wife and bought a new 4S rather than the 5. 4S to wife, 4 to son. Now have a 5C and am waiting for a 6.

got a 4 on release. running jailbroken 5.1.1. still waiting to hear what the 6 will bring, but there is some stiff competition.

My mom uses my old 4S - 16Gb is more than enough storage space for her.

My 5s (16Gb) is getting tight on space now though, I'll likely get the 32Gb iPhone 6 and pass down the 5s to my mom.

4S from October 2011. I'm going to try to make it to 6S with this one, and then buy that up-front, but I'm already through 1200 cycles on the battery....

Nope, you won't. The old GSM network (which includes EDGE) is what's shutting down.

You'll have to use a phone with UMTS support; that was introduced with the iPhone 3G.

Lame! So soon the original iPhone will be truly useless? That makes me a sad panda.
