I recently got into photography like a few months back learning everything from my friend.

I casually shoot of my iPhone and still learning Photoshop but using VSCO too, I'm probably going to purchase a nice DSLR when the weather gets warmer I can travel around Toronto for better photos

I love Instagram. I use it to show my friends and family my recent shots. I've developed a workflow that is constantly changing for non-iphone shots. Incase that you are curious.. My workflow begins with a upload to flickr from Lightroom, download the image through the flickr app on the phone, then use squaready app to create a background for non square images. Finally uploading the images to instagram.

I am on Instagram, steveh552

I am just (as in the last hour) started to research cameras again. I had my own photo studio but sold it along with all of my equipment about 10 years ago. I am not looking to go full-time, just get into it as a hobby.

Does anyone make actual prints anymore?
I regularly make prints of my images. I'm pretty picky about what images I do choose to print out, but it's nice to actually hang your own work on the wall rather than stare at a plain white wall, haha.

I starting out using Instagram from the silly photos I took on my iPhone. Now I use it to post the images I take with my DSLR.

Only the stuff that goes on the walls!

It used to be a thing, you meet your extended family and after a few drinks you start going over the photo albums, checking out who grew up and who is looking sickly thin. Now everyone catches up to each other's latest snapshots online, and all that's left is "Hey, I really like that photo of the Aegean Sea you took on your last holiday, can you print it on a canvas for me, I want to hang it in my bathroom?"

Interesting. I print a LOT more than what goes on my wall. To be honest, I've never considered a photograph "complete" until I've made a print of it (or seen a projection of a slide). I have boxes of 8x10 prints of my work.

I will grant that for sharing snapshots, prints are not ideal. But for virtually everything beyond that, I'd much rather hold a well-made 8x10 (or larger) in my hands, than see it on Flickr, FB, etc.

Wow, I've never heard the current state of photography summed up quite so perfectly as this.

Look at them? Enjoy them? Share them with your friends/family/neighbours/strangers? Exhibit them? Store them for years to come?

I do! 4x6"s. 100 a year and they go up on my bedroom wall. 3 years in and I'm running out of wall space. My photography has got better so I might have to retire some of the older shots.

Also, on the intstagram topic. I am a member there and try to post at least a few times a week. Unless I use the occasional hasselblad shot (perfect for square format) they are all iPhone shots.

Username is the same!

I use Instagram quite a bit. Right now my feed is mostly my son, he will be a month old tomorrow. :)

I just bought a new camera, so hopefully I'll get more into photography with it.

My username is @Amato27

I will follow back. :)
