Don't you prefer something that colours the syntax when coding?

Just Curious.

Coloring is nice but not a necessity. When out on the road I am mostly concerned with conserving as much battery life that I can from my old Titanium powerBook (has the original battery in it).

Since I bought my Macbook I have been using Text Edit because I don't want to install the Rosetta-ness of Office. I am surprised at how fast Text Edit is; however, it is not fun at all to use. There are not enough buttons to quickly access formatting tools and other goodies. Furthermore the rich text format is just not good. Perhaps that is due to its interaction with proprietary programs, but the real world is built on the proprietary programs.

Text Edit is good for what it should be used for...quickly hammering out text. Its use deteriorates dramatically beyond that.

I like TextEdit a lot. Problem is I have so many windows of it open at once I get lost. I'm looking for something like a tabbed version of TextEdit. Any suggestions?

No, MS Word, I know it so well at this point I find it easier to use. That and I'm too lazy to take the 30 sec to learn TextEdit.
