Serious Question.

From reading many postings here, remarks and comments, also the feel some seem to have about Apple as a brand, where it is, where they want it to go.

I would like to know, in all seriousness, who here will be personally disappointed if the Gold Edition models are priced at anything less than $5000 ?

No me, I don't care because I have no intention of getting one. Apple Watch or Apple Watch sport is what I am aiming (depending on the price)

Why do you even care about the price of the Edition?

Do you need it to cost more than £5k to make you feel like a special snowlflake? What does it matter if its more or less? People will buy what they want to buy.

I got my eye on the Stainless steel with the link bracelet or the milenaise loop but I need to see the confirmed prices first. As its just a gadget watch to me and i can still live without one as i have done.

No, because I am not in the market for a watch that expensive. It'd be awesome to see one up close, though. So, the price of the Edition won't matter much to me.

C'mon. This is MR. Regardless of price someone will manufacture phony rage at the price of the product they never had any intention of buying. Being upset is like Popeye eating a can of spinach, except they are no hero.

Do we really need another thread on this?

This specific, exact question has never been asked as far as I know.

We have debated the price, argued the price, some have thought it will be low, some very high.

No one has clearly said they wish it to be high priced (over $5000)

This can matter to people a LOT.

If Apple was somehow clever and the 18K edition was, lets just say $899, this would annoy and upset some, who would then regard it as some cheap gadget that should not be alongside other brands.

However Priced at say $10,000 they would love it, it would be worthy of holding it's place alongside the other very high quality pieces from other leading brands.

So a group of people, to many people actually, things can be too cheap.

Hence my precise question that had not been simply and directly asked ever on this exact point:

Who here, if anyone, will be disappointed in the Gold Edition is not at least $5000 for the cheapest model?
Meaning just to be seen with one, anyone else will instantly know it was $5,000+ you had there on your wrist.

It will be interesting how many, if any on these forums wish this minimum price.

All I can say is Monday can't come soon enough so we won't have threads like this...

Do you walk down the street, see a store that sells things that annoy you, walk into the shop and stand there shouting to everyone in the store how much you dislike it, and don't want the store to be there?

No?

Well why read a thread with this type of title, and THEN take the time to complain about the thread?

;)

$5k is not the amazing huge number you seem to think it is.

A golf enthusiast will spend more on a set of clubs.
Many racing bicycles you see people training on cost that.
I drive around in a $25k Subaru...OMG! it's like 5 status symbols impressive... just... no.

Status symbols are not mass produced in China like Apple products are.

Seeing as a partner manufacturer for luxury brands has come out with a price range for their Apple Watch models which would only be available at Luxury Stores, which is where most of the people your are describing would be shoppng the price of the Gold is irrelevant. The minimum price for those has been set at $8k for the basic watch which contains both gold and diamond chips. The higher end as I recall was like $20k.

Don't be so elitist. $5K for a watch is not an insignificant amount of discretionary money to spend on one item for 80% of the U.S. population, especially if you have kids and live in a high cost city. Be glad you live in ATL where homes, food, and private schools are still relatively cheap to prices in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Chicago, or CA.

Also ridiculous comparions of a watch and a car. But even the example you used, $25K for a car is budget range. $5K for a luxury watch is midrange.
