Well, I can't say no matter what, because if it cost $50,000 I wouldn't upgrade, but I upgrade every year because I enjoy having the latest tech.

The XS / XS Max does a great job at everything that I need a phone to do. There’s not much that can be done to entice me at this point outside of the camera - and it would have to be ground breaking - not a marginal improvement.
I’ll probably be sliding back to a two year upgrade cycle considering the prices and marginal increases in performance every year.

Not this time around unless there’s a significant design change... i.e. 2018 iPad Pro design. I’m happy with my iPhone XS 512GB. That alone was $1,350.00. This was coming from the iPhone X 256GB. So I may be waiting awhile.

F no! Law of deminishing return.
Slightly Better camera, slightly better battery life, slightly better screen. Different design. But at the end of the day it’ll do the same thing as my XR or Max.
My purchase this year is gonna be a long range Tesla model 3!

I will gladly take my wife's iPhone 8 and I will buy her a new 2019 iPhone of her choice, so that I can wait until 2020 to (presumably) buy for myself a revolutionary device with under-display touch ID and no notch and 5G.
2019 new iPhones are shaping up to be the new "iPhone X" kind of disaster model year.

I usually update every two years and my X will be two years old in December. When the new phone comes out I’ll see what it offers and decide if it’s worth the upgrade. Tell you the truth, I have no problem with the way my X has performed and could easily keep it for another year.
If they're not plagued with issues and the back doesn't look like it has a tumor, I'd definitely get one.

If my SE breaks I will definitely buy another one, but that’s about the only guarantee. If Apple decides to bring back the SE form factor with a new design or updated specs, I would consider upgrading if the price/specs were right, but I won’t upgrade to a larger phone this year.
I wouldn't say it's beyond. It's pretty much the definition of fanboy/girl. Apple could put out the same phone in a new colour and many people will pay $1000 for it without a thought.

I personally don’t like the design of the A80. The rotating camera make it look uglier. The Galaxy S10 series look better than this one.
#3 in your list is not a feature Apple will be adding to the iPhone, and the iPhone already is ‘edge to edge’ as it is right now.
#1 and #4 are already expected every year, An updated processor is not something the average consumer cares about.
