I was just wondering why my internet sucks while using my iPad Air. Called Spectrum (Time Warner) to verify my service, should be 200/10. Eero app says I’m getting 234/12. My MBP is connected to the Eero via hard line, Speedtest is 234/11. When the hard line is disconnected from the MBP and it’s using Wi-Fi only, Speedtest is 145/12. With the iPad located on the same spot as the MBP, Speedtest is only 87/10, geez.

Besides having a measly 16Gb HD and slow running apps, it apparently can’t pick up Wi-Fi worth a crap. Can’t wait for the new Pro(‘s) to come out!

i have ipad pro 10.5" LTE and it's also pretty annoying with picking up wifi, but my ipad mini on IOS 9 does fine, not sure if it's an IOS 11 thing ?

Not everything is always the device’s fault. It might also be an older WiFi hotspot- maybe there is a firmware update available for the WiFi router.

I had to turn on auto-join to make sure my 2018 iPad will keep my WiFi network saved (iOS 11. 4.1), Apple’s settings are becoming increasingly overcomplicated. Never had to do this before.

OP you might want to reset your iPad’s network settings if you haven’t already.

Dude, i am still using an ipad mini 2 with a cracked screen and broken home button, and it is soooo slow loading webpages it’s ridiculous. I’m putting up with it until the new ipad pros...i only hope my mini lasts that long!

Geez dude, you got me beat. September can’t come soon enough!
[doublepost=1535069396][/doublepost]Ya, it is an old machine running 11.4.1, pretty taxing on the ol’ girl I’d imagine.

The Wi-Fi network is via the newer gen 2 Eero system. Like I said, that Wi-Fi works great on the MBP but blows on the iPad.

I’ll try resetting the network thanks (but I’m pretty sure that’s been tried already).

To be honest, unless you're downloading huge files over the internet on the iPad (with 16GB, where would you even store them?), that 87/10 is plenty fast enough for typical iPad tasks.

The problem with that iPad Air is chipset, memory and storage. Particularly so if running the latest iOS 11 firmware with its crappy memory usage/handling. While the Air is capable of downloading webpages quickly enough, the same cannot be said of rendering aforementioned webpages.

I truly feel your pain.
I have an Ipad Air 2 that has me gunshy about ever getting another one.
It’s been a dog since about Day 1.
It is so slow and the touch screen is so bad. Just about everything requires two touches because the screen is so unresponsive and/or the proccessor can’t keep up. I’ve learned to look up to the top of the screen to see if it ‘took it’ whenever I click on anything.
Half the time it did nothing and it requires a 2nd, or even a 3rd try. Just pitiful. Often it is simply disconnected from my network. I reach over and my phone is connected and I just happen to be watching something streamng on TV which is working fine, so I know it’s the ipad.
I don’t want to pay the money to replace it and I sure don’t want to sell it and foist the POS on some unsuspecting soul.

I'm surprised with your experience considering the Air 2 was a pretty notable jump over the Air. Most consider it one of the longest lived iPads released. I think you might have received a defective iPad.

I’m in agreement with you, but I figured it out way too late to deal with it.
I posted something ages ago regarding this. I sure hope you are right. I’m stuck with it but if it really is defective, it might restore some faith in replacing it with a new one.
We have 6 iPads in our family. Grandpa bought two for the grandkids but I’ve never tried theirs to compare. Both are iPad Air 2s. I don’t have the cajones to suggest Grandpa could maybe borrow one for a few minutes. I’d have better luck getting them to eat broccoli.

Pretty sure the iPad Air only does wifi at 802.11n. Your MBP (if it is recent) does 802.11ac. Big difference in speed.

Yeah, this has to be a defective iPad. I've had an iPad Air 2 since the first day of release and it's been nothing but a pure joy.

My original launch day iPad Air picks up WiFi just fine.

It lags a little bit while using safari, surfing the net or even watching YouTube videos through the app it’s not much slower than the iPads of today.

Still can’t wait to pick up a new pro when they come out!
