Congrats and welcome to the club.

Don't make any plans, you'll want to play with it all the time. And once you discover what it can really do, that is when the fun starts.

Congratulation, very nice present ;) don't worry it won't take you long to learn the essential parts of the system. if you have any problem, just write the problem in google with word mac at the end. And any problems the guys here will be happy to help. Welcome to the club :)

Stuff to do:

Run all your updates and everything, set up your email, set up your calendar, set up your iTunes music library; it's all great fun :), play around with Spaces, set up your pro apps if you got any (FCP, Adobe programs, etc), organize your photos.. etc etc. :)

iStat - to see CPU status in a super nice display
SMC Fan Control - control CPU fan speeds
Adium - Best IM Client anywhere
Awaken - pretty nifty alarm clock app, costs 30 bucks though =\

That is so awesome! Congrats! I hope you have fun using it and that you do well in college!

Fantastic news and a great gift; well done on graduating from college, and congratulations on your splendid new MBP. May you both live long together and prosper.

Cheers and good luck

What an awesome gift, congrats to you!

There are plenty of resources on here and there are plenty of helpful books aimed the first time Mac user at your local Barnes & Noble or Borders bookstores. I'm sure you'll be comfortable with it sooner than you think.

next question is about a warranty / appleCare

do i need to fill anything out as far as a warranty goes, and i have applecare, do i need to install something with the CD it comes with or is it just something i hang on to. Thanks guys!

btw this screen / resolution is mind blowing...

my old computer was

thinkpad with intel pentium M
<1GB ram
30 gig HD
and like 800x600 resolution or something!!
